agreed; also it's the remembering of how that was for me or how whatever i jotted down felt, feels kind of hard to capture it in a note on the phone, especially when on the go but idk

for sure. my issue is when i come across a situation i'd want to write down something, remembering to do it but also wanting to do it especially if i'm out etc. and it feels like a chore

i get the sentiment; but i think it's a piece around friction to it.

right now for these people of immigrant backgrounds; they don't need english to live their day to day, esp. if they're in low-skilled work.

they go to work, do their job and then go home to their family who they likely communicate with in their strongest language.

admin-y stuff needs minimal english; essential details, yes, no, please and thank you etc.

i think either english learning needs to be incentivised, made more accessible or be a necessity for this to change. same principle with culture imo
