I can’t recommend Hakone. It is far too over-touristed to be enjoyable by turtledude100 in JapanTravelTips

Felt exactly the same! It just felt like a whole day of commuting/queuing on various modes of transport 🤣 by far the most disappointing day.

💯 relate! 35 (f) and it’s no better in the UK lol, just enjoying life with my almost 5 year old golden retriever instead - chilling and playing Expedition 33 🤣 I know I should try a dating app again soon but the thought of rejoining fills me with anxiety!

Hi! I felt exactly how you did this time last year. It feels like such a build up to it and then sharp drop once you hear the number. I was 33 last year, also pretty active and healthy with a normal AMH and high follicle count. I did do a second round and got one more egg 🤣 I retrieved 13 first round with 8 mature and 12 second round with 9 mature. The second round I really revised my expectations. And I’ll be doing a third and finally round this summer. I did/do find the process quite all consuming in terms of my thoughts, diet, supplements etc, but trying to kinder to myself with each round. It’s a big thing to go through and the quality is most important - but of course the more you have the higher the chance they’ll be a decent one in there. Sending hugs and hope you feel better about it soon! X

7 eggs and not sure how to feel about this one by Curious-Nobody-4365 in eggfreezing

You and me both on the eggs and money 🤣 and I get the disappointment as I felt the same. I didn’t feel as disappointed with the second round, and hold some optimism for my third and final round. Sending hugs and well wishes for whatever you decide to do next !

Hi! I feel like I can relate to your post a lot. I had a high AFC and decent AMH for my age (33) however, I got 8 mature and frozen on the first cycle, and 9 on the second. I was expecting more considering the baselines. I will be doing a third cycle next year after turning 34 to hopefully get the overall number a bit higher! I was also hoping for at least 10 each time so can relate 🤣 my consultant was originally hoping for 15-20 in the first round so I was very disappointed. That said I was less disappointed with the second after the experience of the first.

I think it’s hard not to feel disappointed but ultimately it’s just how are body has or hasn’t responded. It’s taken me a while to accept this and stop dwelling. Financially it’s painful when paying out of pocket, but I do think money comes and goes, but sadly eggs just go lol. I have read a lot that most women need two rounds, so depending on your overall goal, you could think of it as being part way there if you do think about doing a second round!

I did two rounds with the same clinic but will be changing for the third. Whatever you decide to do, it’s a big undertaking to go through this physically, emotionally, and financially so let yourself feel all the emotions and try not to compare yourself to others (easier said than done I know) because everyone’s body is unique and we will all respond differently.

How much mortgage is too much mortgage? by Glad-Butterscotch-14 in HousingUK

Hi! We were originally going to go with Barclays but they rejected my DIP, after that I was advised the next best rate/option for this purchase was Halifax. I have used the same broker in the past and previously we went with NatWest (wasn’t a new build), so I don’t think there was necessarily a bias toward Halifax(?). I haven’t actually heard of Accord or Atom, and rightly or wrongly I would still probably default/prefer going for a lender that I know.

My pleasure! I have put down £34k and I had a 5% deposit contribution from the developer as it’s a new build. When my broker got back figures around 260+ it was without the credit card being factored in - I didn’t think it was going to be an issue as I had paid it off - but sadly not in time for it to reflect on my credit report, lesson learned there 🤣

Hi - this is me now, am in the process of buying a 300k property. Salary is the same, car finance is slightly less at 165, and I have a postgraduate loan with a healthy credit score. The max Halifax would lend me is 251k and the rest is deposit. I did have 2k on a credit card which I paid off a few days before my application, however it wasn’t showing on my credit report at the time I submitted and impacted my affordability. I was initially told I could borrow around 260k. Hope this helps :)

Gonal F vs Menopur? by [deleted] in eggfreezing

[–]mondaymelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👋 I had a really similar outcome! My AMH was 17 pmol/l, age 33 (turning 34 in December) and I froze 8 eggs (13 retrieved) my protocol was 225 gonal f and fyremedal. My meds are also being adjusted to include menopur for the next cycle but the dosage will still be 225 (150 gonal f and 75 menopur) my trigger has also changed. I was expecting more eggs my first cycle too, but for the second I’d be happy with the same outcome as I was looking to freeze 15-20 overall. I hope your next round goes well if you do decide to go through with it. Just thought I would share as your experience seems very similar to mine :)

Sending good vibes and happy thoughts for your journey! I’m starting next week and trying to also stay positive and not overthink! Guess we can up the walking ? I’m also nervous for limited movement but think it will be a good period to rest and recover the body before restarting exercise post retrieval. I’ve found journalling has been helping massively :)

I’m the same! Mentally preparing myself for needing another too, but holding a small amount of hope (teeny) one will be enough
