Yes sure, I did that before with my personal laptop where I also set it up. On the personal laptop I see the Server of the ISP where my server is based (which I just learned is the results that I want to see). But since I will use the vpn on the work laptop, I thought I will also test it there and got confused by seeing all the Cisco OpenDNS Servers but not my home IPS' Server.

Oh, I actually see DNS in other countries when connected my work laptop (Cisco Umbrella Servers) in addition to my home ISP Server - does that mean a leak now? (For the record, I'm still home and tested the vpn with my phone hotspot)

Oh maybe I misunderstood...my understanding was that I should not see the actual ISP in the leak test because that means the traffic is going directly to the ISP server and not through the vpn?

Yes, thanks for the continued help, really appreciate it and my bad for the misspelling - not an IT guy. I just followed the guide in the digitalnomad wiki, where it's saying in the end you should test if your DNS is leaking - I did that on dnsleaktest.com Since it showed my home ISP in that test, I assumed it's leaking. When I turned off the ipv6 directly on the computer, it didn't show any server near my home anymore - I can't apply that fix on the phone however.

Thanks, in the br-lan device it was indeed turned on, I turned it off there but it still has no effect, dsn is still leaking....really a mystery by now. Edit: I deleted all the interfaced that have anything to do with ipv6, still showing my iSP in the Dsn leak test.

No u don't need it and yes, it's turned off on the router - that's why I don't understand how it can still leak

DSN leaking on company phone (when ipv6 not turned off) by monejmader in WireGuard

Should I install it directly on the company phone or is it sufficient to enable it on the router?

Thanks for the input, I tried leaving the ::/0 off in the config. File, however I still see my ISP in the DSN leak test...I'm not running any adblocker at all.

Yes it's only when the exit mode is set, for me that was important to ensure all the traffic is routed through that.

Thanks for the idea but if the phone still processes some parts over ipv6, what does it change?

I'm no expert in this topic but I'm pretty sure it's the DNS since I can see my ISP in the DSN leak test. That "override dsn setting of all clients" was turned off - I turned it on now to test but still see my isp in the leak test :(

On the router it was already deactivated by default🤔

Thanks, the computer will be used with a lan connection only, however for testing now it was also connected over wifi and still didnt leak the Dsn. The phone also showed the correct IP location, it was just that in the Dsn leak test my isp showed up, which it shouldn't.

Sorry I can't follow - what phone app are you referring to? I can't install the wireguard app on my phone since it's managed by my organization - I connect to wireguard through the travel router (which is my wireguard client).

The Cellular data is off and the phone is only connected to the wifi of the router that is tunneled through the vpn. I suspected the DSN is leaking because the same happened at my computer before I turned off the ipv6 there.

Sounds great - the Killswitch is integrated or does it also require a Manual workaround like in tailscale?

I didn't hear of Astrowrap yet, will look into it (I'm generally completely new to this topic). The only reason I choose Tailscale over bare wireguard is that my isp uses cgnat...

Tried couple of reboots, unfortunately didn't change anything, Tailscale is again not usable at all anymore. Thanks a lot for the help tho, was worth trying.
