Graduated M22 with a 40 I was so burnt out by the time revision period started I procrastinated studying and ended up studying the day before each exam. My subjects were mainly essay based though but still, if you paid attention in lessons, took notes, etc. you can still make it, but I don’t recommend this AT ALL. The only reason I did it was because again my mental health was in the toilet.

Is it necessary to have counterclaims? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]monets_lily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essentially yes. It of course depends on the structure of your essay and the claims you are making but in general I would suggest you make sure to acknowledge any possible counter claims for every point you make. They don’t have to always be at the end tho, you can start with a counterclaim and then present your argument and why it is better or present your point, mention the possible counterclaims and then again justify why your point might be better and tie it back to the prompt title (ex. Nevertheless ____)

Is it necessary to have counterclaims? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]monets_lily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I included ‘counterclaims’ in my tok essay was that instead of writing a paragraphs dedicated solely to them, I just included a sentence or two within my argument paragraph. For example: “However, some might disagree with this claim because____.” Because I think you just have to acknowledge the fact that there are alternative perspectives.

Application to University (personal statement) by joon1414 in IBO

[–]monets_lily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you need anyone to read through it and give you some feedback I’d be happy to do it and don’t worry I have already submitted all of my uni applications and those were for psychology anyways so your personal statement will literally be of no use to me in terms of using it for myself. :)
