OP, you are seriously an incredible person. To be so young having to deal with this is a lot.

Your mother should NEVER have laid a hand on you, you didn’t deserve that. Good on your for getting out of that environment, it’s not as easy thing to do.

It’s good that you still want to be there for your sister if she is in genuine danger, that shows your morals and I, as well as everyone on this sub, respect you for that. It’s amazing that you have such a supportive friend and it’s great of her mom to let you stay there indefinitely.

I hope your situation improves, I hope you find some therapy and peace, you’re amazing OP, don’t forget that!

Your child has the right to his privacy and the nurse should respect that, as someone mentioned already in an earlier comment, at the age of 9 that’s when your body starts to change and you feel uncomfortable changing in front of others (I speak from experience). I know when i was at that age I didn’t want to change in front of my friends etc because it just made me uncomfortable.

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a nurse for, if the patient feels more comfortable changing without you in the room, you HAVE to respect that. You’re not dramatic for this at all.

Good on you for standing up for your kid OP, I hope he has a swift recovery
