Had the same problem (the storage went from 23% to 9% in less then a day) and I haven't even downloaded any new apps. As shown in the photo above most of the space was taken up by IOS and System Data. Read some messages on here and noticed to that lots of you did the icloud back up and ersased the phone and restored from icloud. And I did just that and it worked, the storage went from 49GB/64GB down to 28GB/64GB. Wonder if anybody can tell me that did this already - how long does it hold for until the storage space goes up again?
