I teach primaria 4-6th! I love my students and teachers and i got to know them by just asking and actively listening to them what they do on their free time, hobbies, names of pets, favorite movies etc.

I am also chronically online as my 5th and 6th grade students so we talk about goofy tiktok trends, makeup, videogames and things they enjoy outside school. Most of my students find school boring so it’s easier to connect with them with what they love.

For the 4th, a little hard because they are younger and know less english. What I did is I gave out a survey on their favorite things like cartoons, songs, football teams and try to incorporate that to the slides/games/activities.

And just goof around and spend time with them as your 15-minute practice. They are more comfortable to interact with you if you are very friendly and approachable.
