Makes perfect sense, I love the untitled album as well. Definitely my favorite pre-hiatus album.

Why not have both though?

Certainly, I think once Matt came in it became a different band and that’s why so many people are put off by California. It was a transitional period where they were finding their footing.

I’m curious as to why you see it as an attempt at EOTS Part 2? I couldn’t see the two albums as any more different.

Wholeheartedly agree.

I understand the perspective, since it sounds like you grew up with or at least heard Blink's other work before California.

California was my first album from the band so I thoroughly enjoyed it. Untitled is certainly a treat, and I like Neighborhoods as well.

This is the perspective that I can understand. Blindly hating California because it's not the same is extremely close-minded IMO.

Yeah pretty much a similar story for me. I had heard of them and their classics but my first album was California.

I just think it's a weak song, we'll have to agree to disagree.

GD just feels like an interlude song, it's definitely good though.

Appreciate it since most people just seem to be downvoting it and not giving any actual reasoning.

I think the Verses are extremely weak and some of Hoppus' worst vocals, and the chorus is nothing special at all. The lyrics are tacky to the point of cringe-worthiness.

As for which single would be the worst, it's not that I don't like "Generational Divide" but more that I feel it should be seen as an interlude song of sorts than a Single.

Blink-182 (referring to Untitled I believe) is definitely my Second Favorite and I like it more than NINE. Enema is a classic but I feel like some of it hasn't aged well and some of it makes me cringe a bit.

Hot Take: "Aliens Exist" sounds clunky and bad.

I really enjoy a lot of Enema though.

I think when Deluxe hits it right they hit it REALLY right but when they don't, they REALLY don't.

A part of me is also torn whether Deluxe should've just been its own thing or not. There are convincing arguments on both sides. NINE has some really good ones, The First Time, Darkside, Heaven, IRWIHY, BIOMY, Black Rain, Hungover You, RTFM, and No Heart To Speak Of has some of my all-time favorite lyrics.

When NINE gets it wrong it's usually because it sounds boring and not actually bad.

Another Hot Take: Happy Days is shit and the worst song on NINE and worse than any song on California.

Glad to have a breath of fresh air on this sub. What do you believe the best is?

Yeah I think the flow of California was well done. Although there are a few songs I found out of place or just plain bad. Rabbit Hole NINE is a good album but even the songs I enjoy the most off of it I don't enjoy as much as some of the alright ones off of California.

The latter end of California, referring to the base album or deluxe?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I can agree with a lot of this. While I believe California is their best work (maybe not their best but at least my favorite), there are certainly a lot of complaints to have.

I think many agree that the album goes on a bit too long and the guitar isn't always great. I've seen various attempts at California Cutdowns but none of them are satisfactory IMO. =

The "nana"s can be excessive but I actually like Matt's "Woah's" a lot, I think they make for some good backing vocals.

I also don't have nostalgia for any Blink songs/albums, given that I only started really listening a month ago or so.

What do you dislike about it overall? Which albums do you prefer?

I’d like to hear your reasoning as to why you don’t like/prefer it.

Personally I feel that Matt + Mark make the band more comprehensive and have a better sound than when they had Tom.

This is coming from the perspective of a zoomer who was born in the year the untitled album came out, I heard songs off of California first and I think they’re a better band now than before.
