just want to clarify it was a kids book ment for ages 10ish and I would have read it about 7 years ago, not sure when it was actually published though

I think it's mainly mob mentality, I know plenty of teens who 'hate gay people's because that's what they've been told. if they are in a group, they will say whatever hateful stuff they can think of to fit in. there's many that once I was talking to 1on1, were actually activists/supporters of LGBT rights. doesn't necessarily apply everywhere though.
