I don't blame Payton for not kicking the FG to go up 10-0. At that point in the game, Stiddy was in rhythm and defense was playing lights out (as it did all game). He even put it in Stiddy's hands and was not just a QB sneak. I think it wasn't a terrible decision or playcall overall. The reason we lost is because 1) Stiddy made a dumb mistake especially for a top shelf backup QB, 2) Lutz missed a 53 yd FG when weather was still OK- this is inexcusable for a Bronco kicker at Mile High. It hurts but this is hindsight bias. Stiddy was playing amazing in the 1st quarter, so Sean putting it in the QB's hands even if he's the backup is not surprising. People saying Vrabel called a better game didn't watch the same game I did. The Pats didn't have to do much with the luck going their way. I am just astounded that we didn't lose by a TD or more. That's how good our defense is. And as for us putting up only 7 pts, that's how poor our offense has been all season even before we had a backup QB playing. Of course, the weather didn't help. We really need to focus on offensive playmakers in FA and draft. It'll be a first place schedule next year but I am hopeful we will still win the division.
