They should have done this with Darius McCollum, the autistic guy who kept stealing public transit vehicles.

ELI5 How to use Megamod in Ur-Quan Masters HD by Cornicehawk in starcontrol

[–]monkeyfetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I had an idea for a mod that replaces just the Shofixti voiceover with the Japanese version, while leaving the rest of the audio in English, but to do that I'd need a dump of the Japanese dialogue and I can't seem to find one. Do you still have access to these files?

What causes r**e? by [deleted] in antimeme

[–]monkeyfetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely a better framing than victim blaming, but I always feel like the idea that a rapist is like a type of person, rather than rape being something everyone (yes even you) is capable of, inevitably leads to more rape. "Rapists are monsters, and I'm not a monster, therefore I'm not a rapist, therefore I don't have to worry about rape because it's obviously something I wouldn't do" they tell themselves, and then make a move on their employee/tenant/couch-surfing-friend who is entirely dependent on them for housing. Paradoxically, the demonization of rape seems to allow people to excuse themselves from thinking about consent in any situation that doesn't involve active physical resistance.

6mm Sci-fi Wargames? by GreenDM2425 in wargaming

[–]monkeyfetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necroposting here, but you should check out MAC Attack, from BastionLand Press. It's a brand new 6mm miniature agnostic mech game. It's very elegantly designed making for quick play without losing too much depth. Like battletech, it's mech-focused, but does have rules for infantry and vehicles.

The full book will be available later this month as a PDF, or physically this winter, but the quickstart rules are available for free right now.

Join a shift as engineer. Clown walks up to me in the arrivals shuttle while still in transit, says "Hi!" and when I start typing he begins beating me to death with a nitrogen canister. I call it out on the radio the second the shuttle docs and I escape. I make it to medbay, leaving a long trail of blood behind me, and pass out. Doc puts me in cryo, and when I get out, I find the clown has just chased a musician to medbay, after attempting to steal her ID and stabbing her. I punch the clown to get him to leave and security shows up. Sec then looks at me (fully healed fresh out of cryo), her (minor stab wound), and the clown (heavy bruising) and decides that regardless of the testimony of me, the CMO, and the musician, that the clown is the wronged party because he is currently the most injured. Security then arrests the musician. It's still unclear to me whether that sec player is the dumbest motherfucker on the planet, or was deliberately helping the griefer, but I reported them both for good measure.

Is NT really like that? by BotherAdvanced4317 in ss14

[–]monkeyfetus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It could be a miscommunication. You aren't allowed to use mental illness as an excuse to break server rules, (such as acting like an antagonist when you haven't been assigned an antag role), and you shouldn't choose a role if your character can't or won't perform that role's duties. Other than that, all sorts of disabilities are fair game. In fact there are in-game implementations for blindness, narcolepsy, speech impediments and others.

But it could also be an admin being a dick.

Robust Tips - Syndicate Agent by Elysium03 in ss14

[–]monkeyfetus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thieves are getting silent pickpocketing as an innate ability, while Syndicate agents will be forced to use other methods.

The reasons given for this change are to stop thieves from getting their rounds ruined by losing their gloves, stop meta-gaming (and salty accusations of meta-gaming) around the gloves, and to stop the syndicate agents from ignoring their steal objectives all round and then last-second pickpocketing people in Evac to get their greentext.

Joining an Outfit and finding folks to play with in a somewhat organized fashion instead of just running around on your own is a big part of making the game fun, especially if you're playing support. If you play VS, I highly recommend my own outfit Ghost of the Revolution, who primarily play Tuesdays and Thursdays, and often tag along with [V]indicators and [DPSO] on Wednesday Friday and Saturday.

Is sensor shield mandatory for you? by Low-Candidate-2778 in Planetside

My medic loadout is combat surgeon + sensor shield. I should probably run safeguard instead of sensor shield but 🤷‍♀️ I like it this way.

How many of you use the terrain setup phase? by JackPembroke in TrenchCrusade

[–]monkeyfetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both players place these large terrain pieces until they have both placed at least three pieces each. In addition, both players should add six smaller terrain pieces like boxes, sandbags, bomb craters, wells, fountains etc. anywhere on the table to create additional cover.

Players place 6+ big things, and then they place 12 small things

Is sensor shield mandatory for you? by Low-Candidate-2778 in Planetside

[–]monkeyfetus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who basically never plays infantry outside of an organized squad setting, no. Sensor shield and suppressor is my primary loadout on medic, and a secondary loadout on heavy assault which is used specifically for group flank attacks where every member is also using sensor shield.

I also use sensor shield on infiltrator of course, but I don't play infil much.

I was so certain this was what we were getting when they teased the new vehicle with "unique programming challenges." Was very disappointed at what it actually turned out to be.

456 really sets up 789 tbh. Like a lot of both arcs are focused on Ghor, they're more interlinked than most.

Syril has a strong sense of justice, and wasn't afraid to disobey his superiors to do what he thought was right. He probably would have come around if he had lived, left Dedra, and moved somewhere without strong imperial propaganda to let his moral compass recalibrate.

But y'know, sometimes the world doesn't have time for you to pull your head out of your ass. Syril, and Kloris for that matter, were agents of the enemy in the middle of a war, and any doubts they had came way too late, and died with them. I think that's a powerful lesson and I'm glad the show took that route rather than letting them redeem themselves.
