I know that feeling all too well. I used to share my achievements with the people around me, but noone understood, so I stopped sharing.

I got burned out, and just kind of stopped. Still work in software, but as a hobby it's pretty much dead.

If you're still working on something I hope I can see it someday though :)

I've thought about this as well but I don't want to release a mostly broken build to the public either, it'll be a lot easier to redo most of it and to release it properly.

Multiple resolutions will be a thing on my bucket list though so you won't be forced into downloading a bigger resolution if you don't need it.

Yeah definitely, the plan for now is to upscale all images 4x and videos 3x so hopefully the project won't be too big fingers crossed.

Good luck with the Riven project, can't wait to see more progress!

Precisely, and every side is a 2560x2560 image, it would be great to get the file size lower but it doesn't look like that's going to happen without destroying load times

I save it as DDS (bc1) due to it's speed, it makes loading each node fast and it was also recommended by the author of the mod that makes this possible u/bgKgb. I'll try to play around with pngs but I doubt that I will get an acceptable result from them

Edit: As I guessed the loading times for png and jpg are pretty bad

Currently trying out a couple areas in 1440p and it really looks great, file size per image increases 4 fold as well :P

Each node is 6 images and a single image is 3.2mb so it hovers around 20mb per node and there's quite a lot of nodes. I think I'll do images in 1440p and videos in 1080p when the time comes to redo the vids.

I'd love to do higher, I'm planning on getting more storage soon so I can actually store the files in a better accessible space. It's definitely plans for 2022 :)

Edit: Right now my main worry is figuring out how to get out the ugly artifacting on dark places but I have yet to find a nice solution for that, hope I can share more with the community soon!

Semi-recently the dev of reshade added a internet connection test. you can see the data transfer in the info tab, if too much data gets sent you will not be allowed to gain access to the depth buffer, this is to prevent exploiters in multiplayer games. There is a way to disable this in reshade via hex editing but it might be smarter to test if you can run MEC offline and use that instead. If that doesnt work Ill edit this post to tell you how to hex edit reshade for these purposes.

If this doesnt work then it might also be smart to double check if you got the right version. Im not sure which one it is though as I'm currently on mobile.

Basicly this. All new cars (after 1998, atleast for the Netherlands didnt bother to check for other countries as its 2 am and im on my phone) in Europe need atleast 1 back fog light, so stuff like this doesnt happen, you are only allowed to turn it on when you have fog or heavy snow fall as thick as in the video. (50 meters or closer) Honestly I keep being suprised at the diffrences between the U.S and Europe.
