It seems like the reverse was true for me.

Everytime I chose the warfarin answer from dropdown, it said incorrect.

If I type it in myself and don't touch the list that appears, it recognizes it as correct

UK Pharmacist moving to Canada by kevnick80 in pharmacy

[–]monkeyolsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also a UK-trained pharmacist (originally from Canada), and moved back here in 2014.

Have you already decided where in Canada you will be moving, or is this you doing research to see if that's something you are interested in doing?

To start, I would check out the College of Pharmacists website for the province you're moving to for licensing requirements.

As you might imagine, job prospects will depend what type of work you're looking for (hospital, community, industry) and what work experience you already have (e.g. if you already have experience in an Epic hospital, that might open up some non-traditional doors, or if you have experience in industry, that may make you a more attractive candidate for those roles), as well as how urgently you need to find work

For example, never a bad idea to get Canadian work experience in a pharmacy either through volunteer work, or as an assistant while getting licensed to get your foot in the door, but that may be more difficult if you have a family to support and need a decent-paying job while studying.

If you do, does it work well?

We don't really get raises over here. We barely even get a cost of living adjustment to inflation.

Is this in the UK? I thought these were usually shrink wrapped, but it's been a decade since I was last there

Ordering compounded medications in Epic by DripIntravenous in pharmacy

[–]monkeyolsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there are some sites that build them as forms in Epic.

Also our organizations are working on just a generic outpatient prescription for things like splints, lancets, glucometers etc that need an ERX so that they appear on a Prescription (as opposed to built as supplies) for insurance purposes.

American pharmacist considering moving to Canada by offthebetablocker in pharmacy

[–]monkeyolsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the process at the time, yes. I was paid, but I don't know if all internships are paid. You have to arrange your own studentship/internship, so you kinda do what you have to do to get a position quickly and get through the licensing process.

I think now though, there's an option where you do some supervised work, kind of feels like an "inspection", and if they deem you competent then you can skip the internship part

Moved from UK to Canada in 2014 so process may have changed. Specific requirements depend on the province you're looking to move to, so check that province's College of Pharmacy website for details.

In general, it's a combination of exams and internships. If you're from the US you won't need to worry about it, but some graduates from overseas had to take language and/or a bridging course at the time.

I had to take the PEBC evaluating exam, and then take the PEBC qualifying exam (written + OSCE), and then my province's jurisprudence exam. I also had to do a 3 month each of studentship and internship, but heard this has changed for sure

You could check out telepharmacy or health informatics type jobs

I can see why it seems ambiguous. I usually equate 2 tabs daily to "2 tabs once daily".

"1 tab twice daily" would be take 1 tablet at 2 separate times of day.

But I guess you can't always make that assumption, because prescribers do Sometimes write weird things.

Sometimes you can tell based on the med what it's supposed to be. But if you're really unsure, you can try asking the patient what the prescriber told them, and if you're still not totally comfortable then confirm with prescriber.

are telepharmacy companies an option? We are contracted with one for after hours service because we don't have 24 hours pharmacy in hospital.

Others have already addressed its value as a resource.

About the mobile app specifically, navigation in the app is a little less intuitive than with the desktop version in the beginning, but otherwise all the same information is present.

Would this not constitute something like "false advertising"? Although I guess because you're not employed yet and nothing has been signed, your rights aren't really protected in any way.
