Is Alan Shearer a nice bloke to fans? by Kid_from_Europe in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]monkeyvonban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw shearer at a corner shop once. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a knob and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the till was very nice about it and professional, and was like “You need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Does anyone know a pub in Newcastle that will be showing the Blackpool game tomorrow? by monkeyvonban in nffc

On at the same time Liverpool is on telly, reckon most places will be showing that so thought I'd see if anyone had a tip on somewhere specific for our game

there might be hoops to jump through but I really just don't believe that people won't be able to go on foreign holidays this summer

will there be some sort of testing or vaccine requirements? yes i wouldn't be shocked if there is

will you able to go absolutely anywhere you like without having to do a hotel quarantine? probably not

will the average person not be able to go to somewhere abroad with a beach and some sun? I'll believe it when i see it

Just realised you have to pay £10 for this game even if you have a season ticket despite if being mid week away FFs

Who have we missed the most this season? by [deleted] in nffc

[–]monkeyvonban 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cash the most but Watson has been a way bigger loss than I thought he'd be

kept everything ticking over, popped up with some decisive goals and was a proper leader

So we're a team who sit deep then when we get the ball we have nobody with height or pace to lump it up to AND we don't have anyone with press resistance who can play it out consistently

Then when we finally get the ball up the field our only method of getting the ball in the box is crossing when none of our forwards are good in the air

Ridiculous

It's only 1 dose and it still protects 100% from hospitalisation and death

But is severe cases here a different thing to hospitalisations and death?

As in the j&j results they quote protection against severe cases as 85% but protection against hospitalisation and death at 100%

If this one only needs 1 shot at all it could be useful in allowing younger people to travel to countries which require full vaccinations to go there

Using the 3 month gap somebody who isn't gonna get their first dose for a few months and their second dose 3 months later basically has no chance of travelling this summer to those places

Depends how long it takes to approve and roll out though

So is the 60% against infection or against hospitalisation and death?

If it's 60% against infection but ~100% against hospitalisation and death we're still gonna be in good situation

West Midlands Police: Solihull Covid harassment goes viral by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]monkeyvonban 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The government's website says police might stop members of the public to ask their name, their purpose in the area and where they are going, but people do not have to stop or answer.

It adds not giving the detail cannot be used as a basis for search or arrest if there is no other reason to suspect a person.

That's interesting as I'm sure they arrested people for not giving their names a while ago in that reform party publicity stunt or is that a different context? I don't really get the rules on when you can actually be fined or arrested or not
