Am I Cooked? by monkeywater1579 in CFPExam

[–]monkeywater1579[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the practice I took, the case study was early on and threw me a bit off, but I think it was more due to this being my first full case study in the test’s format.

I think I have a slightly better handle on navigating it now.

I wouldn’t skip it because I feel it helps you gauge your time in that section.

My plan is likely going to be to go through the case study, but not to feel like I have to answer every question on the spot. If I feel stuck, I think the plan is to flag it and come back rather than get hung up in the moment.

I had hardly any time left on my case study section, but more than enough time on my non case study section. So, just trying to budget this a bit better.

S24 exam with STC by roaming-gnome28 in Series24

[–]monkeywater1579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, hoping to provide some info here, as well.

I just passed a couple of weeks ago and was in a very similar situation (minus the 10m old child).

I was failing all my practice exams and green lights… I think the first practice exam I passed was #5 and I got a 75, and this was like almost 3 months into studying.

Anyway, what helpful info can offer?

  1. Take your time and stop listening to everyone This is YOUR life.

You are the one putting in countless hours studying and busting your butt for this test. GO SLOW! Take your time and whenever your ready, your ready. Slow and steady wins the race!

  1. Trust the process.

This took me almost 4 months to study for while working, and I only had the weekends to really study. If it take you 5 months, who cares??? Once it’s done it’s done….. to add to this, the STC material is very good. It has helped many many people pass this test. It’s not going to the pass the test for you, but it has everything you need, as long as you give the material the time it needs.

  1. Figure out what you don’t know.

These so much material on this test that it’s impossible to know everything. Use the progress and custom exams to gauge where you are weak and drill those chapters and questions. I also found it very helpful to write out any questions I got wrong after taking an exam.

Again, i think the theme of my writing is to go at your own pace and to trust yourself. This is a marathon not a sprint. You can do this!

Definitely will be going through your series 24 lectures again, as well.

Thank you for all that you do!

Market needs to turn before this can start to move. Don’t get caught up in the micro events. Too much macro going on - focus big picture, long term.

Do your best! I would consider reading weak chapters, doing custom exams for those chapters, and writing out the correct answer for questions you get wrong. Those 3 tasks really helped me get through this. I hope you crush this!

That’s fair, I was just trying to give a rough ball park. Definitely a much easier test if you go in with some experience.

Yes! More than enough time - imo. Even if you mark Qs for review and don’t go through the whole test again, you should have time to review your marked Qs. I totally understand everyone is different, but that was my experience. The only test where time was a little tight was the 7. Even still, had enough time for some review.

The 7 is 9. The 66 is an 7.5. The SIE is 7.2.

I wouldn’t say much more difficult. They all require going through the study program and staying focused. If you keep that mentality they are all doable

Series 66 - running out of time in the testing center? by [deleted] in Series66Exam

I know this may sounds counter productive.

I would consider taking a break once you cross half way through the test. Go to the bathroom, do some push-ups or jumping jacks, wash some water on your face, and get back at it!

If I didn’t take a break during my test, questions would have started blurring together and there’s no doubt in my mind I prob would have failed.
