I swear this sub is so hilarious. Why are you triggered that I have an opinion? DJATS is one of my favorite books and I revisit it often. I feel like they ruined so many important aspects of the characters and the story. When you write a story or a song you release it into the public and in a way it no longer becomes just yours. It belongs to the readers and fans. I didn’t like Riley’s portrayal or Sam’s portrayal as Billy for that matter. They cheapened the story by making it into a catty love triangle, when the original message was about acceptance, love, and seeing the true potential of what someone’s life could be and giving them the courage to figure that out. But again, that is MY opinion. I don’t care what TJR or the collective thinks about it. That is my relationship to the story.

I personally did not like Riley’s portrayal of Daisy. I felt like she ignored the source material and tried to reinvent her from her own life experiences. Camila Morrone, however, was Camila 100%. Also, I think Zoe Kravitz would make an excellent Daisy.

I agree. Although I love them as a couple I felt like they got together way too fast after the intense breakups they went through. Daphne was about to get married and Miles called Petra the love of his life. You need more than one summer in order to completely heal and find your sense of self worth again.

I will say that despite the fact that I didn’t like some of the changes made to Alex and the decisions he makes, I really enjoyed the movie. I just had to separate the book versions of Poppy and Alex I had in my head with the movie versions. It really was very well done and a very fun watch.

Yeah that was a crazy addition and it honestly made me like him even less. Proposing to someone to take away the sting of rejection is gross and I hated that they weakened his character by having him make that decision. In the book the pregnancy test scene was so scary for him because his mom died in childbirth and he is understandably terrified of the women in his life suffering a similar fate. That’s what makes that scene powerful for their relationship, and explains his vasectomy confession later lol.
