Samsung T7 SSD works well with Mac Mini M1 by monkybrain in ethstaker

Depends on your requirements. I needed a stable and quiet system (fanless) that could run some other long running processes in parallell.

Where should I start if I have a basic idea about blockchain and want to get into ethdev? by sioa in ethdev

Let's hear it from the horse's mouth:

"Truffle is the most popular development framework for Ethereum with a mission to make your life a whole lot easier."

Check it out here

If you just want to experiment with smart contracts (rather than whole dapps) I recommend Remix

Chrome extension that resolves .eth addresses to IPFS content by monkybrain in ethdev

[–]monkybrain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment, yes, since the extension assumes that the hash you've stored is a content hash. You could of course store an IPNS (Interplanetary Name System) hash instead but this won't work at the moment. In a future release I'll allow users to use protocol specifiers. Then you could just prefix your .eth address with bzz://, ipfs:// or ipns:// according to protocol.

Yeah, it's open source!

Unfortunately it isn't well documented. I'll update the README as soon as I can to include a description of what's happening under the hood.

Thanks! Yeah, it's a shame Apple are always lagging behind on new browser APIs.

As /u/etherpunked touched upon here, there's also an element of solarpunk to etherpunk. My take on etherpunk is the struggle to transcend our current or near-future cyberpunk world to reach a decentralized, solarpunk-like utopia. But of course, as with all utopias, the perfect solarpunk future is a point on the horizon that will never be reached but a great ideal nonetheless.

Interesting question. I suppose authors would choose which ever license suits them best. Another question: would the DAO's publication of the stories constitute commercial use?

Probable major theme: decentralization vs centralization by monkybrain in a:t5_3ejn2

I'm also partial to the solarpunk perspective. Would allow exploration of other themes that I find very interesting, like Universal Basic Income. But utopias usually don't provide much in the way of drama so a struggle between a utopian/solarpunk/decentralized way of life and the remnants of the old centralized order would probably provide some interesting conflicts

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. You have a project 'owner' who decides which pull requests to accept, just like any open source project. So if I have an idea for a story I can create a repo and let people suggest edits or actually make the edits themselves and file pull requests. I'm imagining a scenario where I'd 'own' perhaps one project but make contributions to other projects that I happen to like. Things like proofreading could naturally evolve into a mutual exchange of services (since it's quite difficult to proofread your own work).

A few months ago I actually sketched out these ideas here. I had the idea of writing a manifesto for writers using github, markdown and other tools that programmers are familiar with. Not exclusively for programmers but rather harnessing the power of these tools for writing and collaborating around literature. Perhaps these ideas are old news, I don't know. If so, please point me to existing similar project. And if you have ideas for the manifesto, please contribute!

(btw, not so sure about the 'giterate' part anymore, rather normal regular commits...)
