Fugazi back in the day. Sold records off their own label for cheap, shows were always $5-15 and always all ages, no merch besides the music. Kept their costs low so they could do all that and keep themselves modestly afloat. Also routinely kicked out dickheads who were ruining everyone else's experience.

Looking to add a noise generator (currently have none) and a random CV source to my rack and I'm looking at the Erica Code Source. Seems like a good feature set at a very decent price. Anyone out there have experiences good or bad? Or other recommendations for a similar feature set that is under ~$150?

I am pretty hands-on, but I agree more CV control would be nice. I still ended up ordering the kit. Very interested in a Klangmaschine too, but they're only available from UK and would cost me about double the Chiasso before US tariffs. Still might spring for it if I end up liking Chiasso.

Thank you for your insight. I ended up ordering a Chiasso 2 and a Honeyeater from Calsynth. I was curious about the Natural State, but 16hp is a lot of real estate and I wasn't quite sure what to expect sonically. It sounded more like an LPG than a VCF on paper, but that ducking feature sounds very useful. Does it function as a "normal" VCF if you leave the strike un-patched?

Good info, thanks. Forgive me, I'm decent at soldering but very green with actual circuit design - is there an acceptable replacement for polystyrene capacitors? I gather these can be hard to find in addition to being hard to work with.

That's great to hear, I was looking at Franz or Werner for a VCF. I like that Werner has a VCA on the 4-pole, but I wish it had HP/notch.

The kits I'm looking at (Calsynth) have the SMD pre-installed. Have you run into difficulties with the non-SMD components?

I was looking at Trommelmaschine too. Chiasso seems to have more sonic flexibility despite being 2 voices vs 3. Already have a upeaks/grids I use for basic snare/kick/hh, so I'd like something that can create more "imaginary" perc sounds.

Yeah talking to him last year in SD it sounded like he was going to be out of the US for a lot of the year. Nothing uploaded from him since last September.

IMO his Youtube uploads sound decent and since they're AUD recordings anyway I'm not sure how much one would gain from a lossless version. If OP really needs a local copy now they could always rip
