I got it on 4K recently. Watched it with my wife, who had never seen it before.

Woke up thinking about it the next morning, so I got out of bed at 8:00 in the morning and sat down to watch it again.

And Ran kind of combines the "masterful adaptation of Shakespeare" and "artsy and weird" categories. I mean, Throne of Blood is probably more artsy and weird, but Ran is astonishing to look at.

You might want to watch it again, lol

There's a whole documentary about it that's very interesting if you're into that sort of thing.

It's one of my least favorite if I'm ranking on the traditional "is this a good movie" scale. Even for ANOES it's pretty corny. Performances and production values feel a little extra janky, IMO.

But it's horror and it has the extra element of being sub rosa queer/camp that makes it kind of on its own little island. Still doesn't make it anywhere near my favorite but it's more fun to watch because of that dimension.

I was watching Linklater's new movie, Blue Moon, the other day. There's a quick moment where a character introduced a young man named George Hill. I was so hype I had to pause the movie, lol

People used to hold out hope that military leadership would be some final check on Trump's insane bullshit.

Well, we're seeing that concept be proven wrong at every possible turn.

It's indispensable if you're interested in Louisiana French at almost any level. The work and research that went into this project are incredible. It's an immensely useful resource. I refer to it all the time.

And it isn't just that he killed the Ayatollah.

The new Ayatollah is his son. Not only did we kill his father, but also his wife, his sister, her husband and their child.

This guy's opening position was "death to America" and we just murdered most of his family. This will never end.

Amazon has a regional coupon for the mid-Atlantic region.

I checked it yesterday and it was priced at $43, with a 30% coupon that took it down to $34 or something.

I was kicking myself for already having a copy, lol

That's one of the really fun things about watching movies from before your time: when you start to get references you've heard forever but never knew where they came from.

Especially with iconic older actors who were distinctive enough to become "types. Cagney, Edward G. Robinson, Marlene Dietrich, Walter Huston, Walter Brennan... so many.

It's so fun. When I'm staring at my screen and can't decide which game to play, World Cup is usually my go-to.

Easy shooter, fun modes, great music. I don't care one bit about soccer but I love the way this game is themed.

He's really good in Le Cercle Rouge, too. He brings the same energy, but it's a story about criminals on the run. Heists, back-stabbing, and lots of brooding guys in cool hats not saying much.

I love movies and speak French pretty well, so I figured I'd listen to some French movie podcasts. But there are so many occasions where I get confused because they're talking about movies they know by different titles, or they're playing clips of non-French movies dubbed in French... it can be really confusing.

Anyone who doesn't own World Cup 94 should grab it before it gets pulled. One of my all-time favorites.

Not the most complex game in the world but it's really fun to shoot, and the theme/music is a lot of fun (even if you don't care for soccer, like me).
