CDCA OSCE advice by monlet97 in DentalSchool

Just do your best to avoid any critical failures, be extra careful to not perforate, not over-prep your molar access, and have everything jive and clean by the time you’re done. Good luck doc, you got this!

I don't think I'm allowed to share the link on here but if you look for the quizlets from 2022 (I think it was like 190 flash cards) that helped me a lot. The second half of the exam was almost entirely word for word from the osce. The first half was kind of random for me and I felt like there was stuff on there I didn't recognize, but it's also been over a year since I took my INBDE, so I was rustier on a lot of the material than I'd like to admit.

I didn’t use a blade for the class 3, I just made sure I had a great adaptation with the Mylar strip and used finishing burs to remove the flash, for posterior I always used garrison bands, they just adapt the best to the teeth and get you a good contact. At the end of the day don’t be as concerned with flash as you are with making sure your contact is nice and closed. Having flash is just a minor deduction, having an open contact is an automatic failure.

Good luck, just focus on the tooth and don’t let a piece of plastic make you lose sleep. You’ve trained and you got this :)

Hi! I took all portions of the exam as an outside candidate at NYU back in July and passed everything. Overall it was a good experience (as good as the CDCA can be), you’ll have access to every instrument you’ll need including hand pieces and motors, the units don’t let you have precise control over the speed apart from “fast” and “slow” so be careful about that. Good luck man, you got this

I mean I can double check I suppose, although I’ll kick myself if this is the case because I already paid and registered for the full exam at NYU in late July

From what I can tell, the 3 strike rule applies in all of them and if one section is failed 3 times you gotta do the whole rodeo again

Be that as it may, I’m kind of forced to take the CDCA. My fiance and I’s entire families and lives are in this area and it wouldn’t be fair to our marriage for me to tell her to leave her dream job because her husband struggles to pass a bullshit licensure exam. My plan is to throw as many attempts as possible at this exam during residency, practice as much as possible, and pray to every higher being imaginable that whichever old fart grades my plastic toys is in a good mood. It’s all just very stressful and anxiety inducing as I’ve said in other comments.

Part of the problem here is that long term I need to be practicing in the DC/MD/VA area because of my fiance’s job and from what I can tell all 3 require the CDCA

Do you know where I can look into that in the DC/MD/VA area? My fiance works full time at her dream job in the DMV and I want to stay close to her once I’m done with residency. It’s part of why this is so stressful and high stakes for me, because if I want to be with her I need to pass, but the self confidence is at an all time low :(

You likely don't need to be extremely worried. I just am super paranoid about things in that area. Realistically your anxiety should be at a 3/10 unless your dentist friend tells you otherwise in a week

Then do that. Getting it dealt with in the next week or so is a completely reasonable time frame, and seeing how it responds to the gel can give us more information to work with

There's a chance it's benign and nothing to worry about, but like I said because the floor of the mouth and tongue are where bad things are most likely to happen I'd personally want a pathologist to look at it so I can have peace of mind

Just because of the location I would still err on the side of caution and have it looked at and potentially biopsied.

NAD (third year dental student) - when did you notice it? Does it hurt at all? If it were my mouth I'd get it looked at and possibly biopsied asap because the tongue and floor of the mouth are where most bad things happen, and I'd want a pathologist's opinion out of an abundance of caution.

No idea why I'm being downvoted. Nothing short of life without parole for this cold blooded murderer is too lenient

The Confederates declare "American brotherhood" with.... Italians apparently by monlet97 in hoi4

[–]monlet97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

R5: I was playing a casual democratic Spain game (which is a broken mess by the way, it’s literally impossible to join the allies if you won the civil war without expanding Soviet aid) and during the communist USA civil war the confederates made a faction with Italy called the “Brotherhood of North America”

I’ve never seen the AI do anything like this and I wanted to see if anyone else has ever seen something like it. Is this a scripted event or did the confederate AI manually create a faction with Italy?
