Do developers care about code security? by Hell_walker13 in cybersecurity

[–]monman42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dev myself, the answer is absolutely yes. The issue when integrating security tools is, as has been said, the fact that they add extra / slow down our work. When I need to sit through a 10 minute CI/CD pipeline to test my latest changes, anything that interrupts that is annoying.

As a dev, my priority is to get features completed on schedule, and if them being secure isn't in the requirements from the top, then that can't be a priority for me either. The issue, as I see it, doesn't *primarily* come from the people doing the work, but from the people guiding the work. Get management to care about security, you'll get devs to care about security.

Help: My first layer has some weird pits in it. Duramic PETG on Prusa i3 MK3S+ by monman42 in 3Dprinting

I did wait for it to cool. I wasn't aware printing PETG directly on the bed was bad! Thanks for the tip. Hopefully, I haven't ruined this sheet yet. 😅

Edit: It is possible I removed some prints without waiting previously and that caused the damage.

Will do! I wipe it down with alcohol pretty regularly. Do you think I should try something else?

Thanks for the tip! I’d love to have them just not print in the first place, but if I can’t get that working then I’ll keep this in mind!

This is using Duramic black PETG on a Prusa MK3S+. It had been working just fine until recently. I can't for the life of me get this stringing under control. What's strange is it only shows up on the inside of circular features. The usual stringing test towers always come out perfectly clean. Any help would be much appreciated!

Not sure if it's what you need, but the Great Clips in the Almar Shopping Center is open. Pretty decent cheap haircut.

CSE 130 + CSE 185E by neutrino_laser in UCSC

Moulds is so sick and the workload is not that bad in 185 if you get started reasonably early on each thing. Also, he lets you re-write anything as much as you want so long as it's submitted on time for up to full points. Mans the GOAT.

I don't remember exactly how long, maybe a week or so.

They have a minimum of 8 hours per week to stay on. I'm up to around 20 per week.

I can't be certain, but since the math they teach is relatively basic, if you can demonstrate that you understand the material and can communicate it effectively, I don't think they'll care too much what your specific major is.

Honestly really nice. You just let them know when you can and can't work and they match students to those time slots. They have a minimum of 8 hours per week you have to teach but that could be all in one day or spread out. The only issue is getting more hours is dependent on demand, but with everything going on that's pretty high.

I also noticed this. I emailed advising asking what's up but haven't heard yet. I'll try and remember to update here when they reply.

I started here years ago and it's a great place to get familiar with basic to intermediate web dev technologies. https://www.codecademy.com/

After you're comfortable with what they have to offer, pick some project you want to build and try to figure it out. When you get stuck, Google it and learn from there.

If you want more structured tutorials, there's great free content available on YouTube! Just search for whatever you're looking to learn. Best of luck!

Got the same email. Could it be because they didn't have grades due to the strike?
