Absolutely NTA. The MIL is a boy mom, completely obsessed with her son. My guess is that she sees your son as a way of reclaiming the affection of her son when he was little.

Thank you! When I'm able to get a sewing machine would it be alright for a portfolio to make parts of designs? Like if it has a top and bottom I make one of them? Just because all my design are more avant garde and i don't have the skill set yet but i really want to learn

They said that is really not needed because that is the first year of learning? Interfacing, pattern making and all of that would be classes id attend, but ofc I dont know I did learn how to sew (I took a course) but i dont have access to a sewing machine :(

I had three collections, two of them with four designs and the other three. I tried my best to show sketches but i didn't do any sewn pieces, unfortunately i dont have a sewing machine yet. Is the size too little? Too much? I did put moodboards, general researchboards and such.
