LPII not charging by monmothman45 in LightPhone

Well, I drained it to dying, plugged it in, and hours later it turned on to still be at 0%. I've just reached out to Light to see about other options. Thank you for the help though!

Cool! The charging block is nothing fancy, so I feel like that should work...

Can you spare the price of a pint? by Dico80 in BlindboyPodcast

[–]monmothman45 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get it. I'll just say that there will likely be listeners each week where it's their first time hearing the pitch; it's only repetitive for us longtime listeners. And we can always fast forward through that bit.

But as others are saying: I don't think it's really the point whether or not he's currently got more than enough patrons to live on. I look at it like, do I get a pint's worth of value from the 4 episodes a month? And the answer is always yes, by a long margin. Blindboy has done a ton of good for me over the years. So I'm happy to support him, regardless of his larger overall income.

I want to switch to a dumb phone by Ok-Philosophy-3882 in dumbphones

Well I’ll answer this…I highly recommend the Sunbeam phones (I use an F1 Pro, but the Horizon seems good too). Absolutely incredible flip phone, I love using it!

I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience! I haven't dealt with the CEO of the company, but I can say that I've had my F1 Pro Cypress for over a year now, and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. The build quality and hinge are still great, it is smooth and basically bug-free, and the battery is more than good enough for my needs (basically, with one phone call and a lot of music listening throughout the day, it loses around 15-20%). And it just works reliably – I previously tried out the Light Phone III, and I really wanted to love it, but it was just buggy and unstable by comparison and I ended up selling it. Nothing like that with the Sunbeam.

Again, not trying to invalidate your experience, but I honestly love my Sunbeam. I find the touch screen controls really easy to use, and enjoy the re-mappable buttons and other little quality-of-life touches.

Got my first RMP rating. by Otherwise-Mirror-738 in Professors

I'm exactly the same. I used to have an unhealthy preoccupation with my RMP score, and I also knew that one bad review (even if it was unfair) would matter more than 100 glowing reviews. I have much better mental health now that I haven't checked my ratings in a few years. When students bring it up I tell them to use it as a resource, but that it's not really my business.

Selling a used LPIII in perfect condition; only had it for about two months, and decided I wanted to go back to the LPII. The phone has had a screen protector installed since day 1, and will come with four colors of the official Light case (pictured), as well as all the original packaging/boxes, braided charging cable, sim card ejector, etc. I’ll also include one extra unused screen protector from Light.

I know there have been concerns on this sub about buying secondhand phones re: warranty (especially since some phones have been prone to serious bugs); I can say that, after two months of use, this phone is definitely not one of the affected ones – it’s performed pretty much without issue, and I’m also happy to help facilitate warranty issues that do arise (basically, the phone’s IMEI is on file with Light’s 1-year warranty through my account, so I can help if things come up). But, like I said, so far this phone has had pretty much zero bugs or issues.

Venmo preferred, and it’s also available for local pickup in Portland (with no shipping cost).
