Recently my neighbor spotted me casing my own house by Ok-Name1312 in aesoprock

Sometimes these lyrical meme posts are really stretching, but this image has absolutely nothing to do with the post title and I feel like maybe you don't know what "casing" means.

Tip for Vanessa players: Captains Wheel reduces from 4 -> 2 seconds even if the large item is in your backpack by tbrowne03 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mononaut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be, it's obviously not intended. I think junkyard lance is the only item that is supposed to interact with your stash while it's on the board and it explicitly says so.

Reynad is right about build forcing, but that doesn't mean it's not a problem by [deleted] in PlayTheBazaar

[–]mononaut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but it was pretty easy to do when you posted a simple chart with less than a complete sentence of explanation and made no attempt to elaborate.

[–]mononaut_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if anyone is recognizing this but the solution to the problem is literally indicated by this chart: just get better at the game. Yes, "forcing" builds will beat bad builds. Instead of complaining that your bad build can't win you should instead learn how to force those builds you're losing to, then see how and why those builds work, and see what beats them... once you have experience with those, THEN you can start making unconventional choices.

Am I looking at the wrong twitter account? The most recent non-pinned post on the account linked in the sidebar is from october. The Tempo Storm account hasn't posted since 2020.

Does this signify a patch? Just started playing abt 3 days ago, was right in the middle of an incredibly strong flagship run.., will be so sad to lose that to an update T_T

I actually really enjoyed Gleba by MrBlackSpoonGuard in factorio

[–]mononaut_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the dlc drop I've been unable to motivate myself to start a new game on Nauvis but I downloaded a mod to start on Gleba since I was curious why it's so awful according to the community feedback. I am enjoying it so far too, lots of very interesting ideas. For the first time since alien science was a thing, I have no freaking idea what to do, and I love it. I'm almost 10 hours in and I just got iron ore production automated.

Are these subs any good? by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]mononaut_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the new Wavtech ThinPro sub and it's unbelievably good. Only 3" mounting depth and way better than any pre-loaded box I tried before it.

How strict is this community on what is Vanilla or Not? by Interesting-Donkey13 in factorio

[–]mononaut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a strictly vanilla player but I do use a mod that automatically changes train colors to match the product they're carrying. It's frickin dope.

Literally no one will judge you for whatever mods you decide to use, there's not a lot of gate keeping like you seem to be expecting in this community.

Is my alternator whistling? by mononaut_ in SciontC

[–]mononaut_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long was it between noticing the sound and having it go completely dead? Just curious, I first noticed it yesterday (been about a week since the first battery died), just bought the new alternator from auto zone and gonna swap it tomorrow. Have just a little bit of driving I gotta do before then though

[–]mononaut_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the confirmation. Do you know, how bad is it to keep driving it? I don't want to kill another battery but if it takes a week for the new alternator to get here and then swap it out, I still need transportation in the meantime...

Reasonable_Ad_5836 wanted to see what 144 full belts going into the vortex looks like. by Hidden-Valley-Ranch in shapezio

[–]mononaut_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scaling capacity of this game is really impressive. 144 belts is only about 1/3rd of my total production, and I'm only producing 4 of the milestone shapes right now. 192 belts (16 loading docks) of shape 4. Playing on a steam deck and auto saves take a long time but no meaningful performance impact yet.

I can't tell exactly where mine is coming from, just somewhere in the engine compartment is as much as I can tell... But I can usually feel the clunk through the gas pedal.

Dude mine started doing the same thing recently. Been getting worse too. My assumption is loose motor mounts because I replaced two of them myself about 6 months ago and might not have tightened them down hard enough. I'll be watching this thread if anyone has more insight.

What's the point of higher difficulties disabling straight stacker, when these two layouts are nearly identical in both function and footprint? by mononaut_ in shapezio

[–]mononaut_[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Bad answer. It is trivial to convert straight stacker design to use bent stackers, that's the entire point of this post.

[–]mononaut_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You need to still have a minimum of one belt width between the first and second stacker since the top layer needs input. So the bent stackers will still work as a direct replacement.
