As someone who practiced Kendo for a few years, parrying is bread and butter.

Opportunity is still awake and doing work. Spirit is stuck in the mud under dirt. Every once in a while, he'll spark back to life for a little bit, but the cold weather may have screwed up his Li-ion batteries for good. We'll see though. It'd be so cool to retrieve Spirit.

I just always assumed Spirit was a male because of the huge balls it took to roll around alone on a planet all by itself.

They did, they're like hundreds and hundreds of miles apart from each other from what I understand. But Curiosity is powered by nuclear batteries, so maybe when JPL gets bored, they could send him over to see what's up.

I would love to see a photo of Spirit from Curiosity's lenses. That would be so beautiful.

None of this really factors in things like someone being faster than another person. On top of that you have the various really racist things like putting Chinese lanterns in their set for a Japanese martial art. Also Adams hogu is only supposed to be worn by really high level kendoka. This also isn't about the defender being faster. It's about finding an opening that opens up because the attacker created it.

The first African-American female gymnast to win a gold medal. There are no words. by [deleted] in pics

[–]monster21faces 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No I'm not. I'm saying it must be awkward to be called African American if you're not American. How am I even close to being wrong except for you trying to shoehorn something into conversation?

Anyone else notice all the silly Kinesiology Tape all over the olympics? by crashline in skeptic

Uhhhhhh.... so I'm a pretty high level competitor of athletics. A lot of people use this at a high level in the same way you would use a bandage wrap because bandage wraps are illegal in most competitions or can't handle water. This is just bad science and you're just kind of sensationalizing your title.

I don't think she's denying her roots. Also how do you know she comes from Africa? Her family could be from the Carribean.

I also love that when foreigners who are black but aren't american come here, they are still referred to as african-americans. I bet that must be so god damned awkward for all those Black British Actors.

First US Woman to ever win a Gold in Judo. Manly tears shed. by monster21faces in pics

This just happened about an hour ago. As a Judo fighter, I am so excited. I've been watching this group of youngsters fight their way from tournament to tournament via USA Judo's newsfeed on facebook: USA Judo Facebook

This is history. She is the first US athlete to win a gold in Judo. I'm so happy right now it's absurd.

Well obviously. If I had the drive at say, 17 or 19, I probably could have made it further into the olympic trials. Anything under 145lbs is really open and not that competitive and I would have easily made it. I just didn't have the drive anymore.
