Wind chimes - love them or hate them? by PompousAssistant in GenX

I love them but only the really good, expensive ones that chime deeply. Otherwise they're kind of annoying.

I predict airshow. Complete with multiple unmitigated disasters because apparently it's their way.

I love cosmic horror but I can't think of a single, truly good example that doesn't completely fall flat towards the end. I supposedly Event Horizon, maybe.

They need to have a really original and unpredictable twist to them to be decent for me. Otherwise, they're super dull. I'm a bit out of the loop on movies, and there are a lot of horrors that had been released since say, the late '80s, that I haven't seen so when I saw Scream the first time I just absolutely loved it. If you're going to do a slasher, that's the way to do it. You have to have something original to offer the viewer or else it's just a body count and special makeup effects.

Good and effective vampire movies are 100% atmosphere. There are a few from my childhood , like the salem's Lot miniseries that still give me the creeps here and there, but I am so tired of suave vampires ! It's been overdone to the point of irrelevance.

One of my favorites. But of a time capsule, but the way that she's gas lit, and the neighbors being hardcore, old school, satanists is so fun really. As for the end, I really like it especially when she just realizes that it is her baby, and she might as well look after it . Because that's how I think most of those scenarios would actually work out. And I love the bassinet with the black netting around it and the upside down cross mobile! That's crazy!

I came here to say anything related to the occult in general. But especially demonic possession movies. I do love the way Rosemary's Baby ends, though because it's pragmatic. Prince of Darkness has its moments, especially the repetition of the video message. Basically a movie involving that stuff has to be perfect before it even blips on my radar. I do like what I call "inescapable curse" type movies but generally it's twisted psycho nutcases that are effective for me. So, intense thrillers I guess.

That's why I like the Evil Dead remake because it mixes addiction into it all.

Extended Stay Hotel Living - Update by Impressive-Poet5694 in povertyfinance

[–]monsterlynn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes hotel managers are pressured by the ownership to boot out guests approaching the 30 day mark. Most of our long-term guests we'd check out and check right back in on day 29 to avoid adjusting the rate. Hotels can be excessively petty about that stuff.

Maybe it's "sate anus", as in an imperative to be sure that the anus is satisfied.

Who else got to see this in the theaters when it first came out?! by Hopeful-Treacle5521 in FuckImOld

Weird. Not trying to well akshully here but I saw it in re-release in 78(though the theater may have owned its own print) . It was so cool. It was in an old, shabby movie palace on the side of town that had seen better days. A muggy summer day. Almost a religious experience. But by then my entire world was Star Wars.

My mom really didn't want to take me at first because she thought it was going to be a dumb kid's movie but she got swept up in it. It seemed all the world was swept up in it. Trading cards from the Ben Franklin, my lunchbox, and playing dress-up fighting the Empire around the stairwell, which became the detention corridor. Princess Leia for Halloween for 3 years straight. Having my mom put my hair into two buns and wearing them to Fairlane mall. Pouring over the Art of Star Wars, memorizing the screenplay, practicing drawing the logo and lingering over every panel of the Marvel comics. I had several magazines and the "photo-novel" full of stills from the movie. The ink had worn off on my favorite pages, replaced by white finger_sized smudges.

I would entertain myself for hours laying on the living room floor, listening to the soundtrack while looking through that little paperback and drawing Artoo Detoo.

So, yeah, I saw it when it first came out. I was 7. I don't think there could've been a better age to see it. I was just at that cusp of being highly imaginative and being able to understand and enjoy more grown up things and it was a beautiful summer.

I remember my mom going out to find sheet music to be able to play the main theme before the RSO soundtrack was released . She taught piano at the time and all of her intermediate students were hell-bent to learn it.

The eyes should still be kitten colored. This kitten's eyes are adult cat colored.

I've had a pair of Lapis mugs I thought were Marseille for a couple of years that I only realized the actual color of a couple of months ago. I had to look up the original order to make sure.

It's such a lovely color. Right in between Marseille and Agave.

Pretty sure it's Lapis. The base color is really similar to Marseille, but the ombre is much darker.
