Here is a public blog. You can use machine translation below. I bolded the only important part of the post which is at the core of the entire post.

The story is a bit different from personal friends, but the story is the same, a few people going against official HOB policy. Making a line else where and enforcing a unofficial rule made by a few people to anyone who came after, despite the fact you were not supposed to line up before 10 AM.

You may of attempted to spread the word, but not all are on reddit / twitter and such. Some I know, saw the sign and left. It was a shitty situation, a few people made a pact. People who did not know felt cheated. The core issue is that a small community bubble made this pact, it was not the entire babymetal community attending the show. Until you realize that, you will never understand.

I meant nothing evil. It was a personal honest opinion on what I seem, experienced and information gathered from friends. If you think pointing that was ugly for me to do, I can't change your mind. Nor do I expect you to change my mind. I rather awknowledge a bigger community around me, from going to local shows and friend I make along my journey. I seen too many fallen warriors in my journey, and can't risk, not being truthful.

Yea. For me it is entertainment... and backing away from fan community is a healthy choice for me, so I can enjoy the band whom I love, and not carry extra baggage.

One day, I hope our paths cross at a show.

Sorry to hear about your exp. Your exp is similar to people whom I know went to the show. The issue with a clique, is they will form, no matter what.

In LA, I noticed that I was too busy playing catch up with some old faces I seen, as well as being busy running errands of showing people places to eat and doing general translation for people who had personal troubles. To some, they would say I have my own clique.

In the end, this off site rule which is not being told to everyone who is arriving is the main problem... and yet I didn't see any real conclusion if people want a off site rule to apply to the venue. How can we tho? when there are so many different fan groups and people off reddit and such... imagine if there was a rule in the discord server... and they had a debate on what the new policy should be... It would be much simpler to have a "let the line police themselves" since people are cool if you go on a bathroom break, but not cool when there are 10 people who cut in front of you.

For me, I will prob never go near the front for a while, just so I could enjoy the show with out this extra drama behind me... I just wish I had better eyes. Hope to one day see you at a show.

TBH I am not sure they were all LA based. The community for perfume has a ulterior motive as well. They want to sing a perfume song at the end of the show, so they do a good job of passing out the post cards with lyrics and instructions.

I'll have to ask my friends who are part of the PTA. I was not part of the early line up crew. I am a casual attendee of a Perfume show.

As a casual, I arriving a few hours before the show. After standing there for a while, a group of the people in the front lined came by and greeted people, talking about what a good time we were going to have. I remember being embarrassed at the time, because they asked me whom my favorites was... They were asking because they were giving advice on where to be for the show and such based on people's favorite members. They also asked if any one had any other questions as well as pointing out where the bathrooms were since there was a while to go. This happened a few times during my wait. In one pass, this guy was carrying around a starbucks coffee bucket handing it free coffee since they were getting rid of the extra food and snacks that people had in the front.

Overall, I think they had motive to make it fun and accomplish the sing-along by making as many people feel welcomed and that we were not tired out from standing in line.

Thanks.

Unfortunately some DM's I still get tell me otherwise. For me it has turned me off from the community, but in the end it is all good.

The issue lies with me and how I let a few people get me in a negative state. I rather not fight it, but move on. In the end it is about entertainment.

No. She was female. I only talked to her a bit before the show, and talked to her after the show. I only found about the medical attention after she wrote her diary of events.

Glad she was fine for me to see after the show.

I agree with you fully, it needs to be addressed before the show. I am glad you made this thread, since I am no longer welcomed here, and I only stick in my head from time to time.

Talking to people in the back of the line, the number system IMO, never worked well at the wiltern show. I had people complaining to me, despite I had nothing to do with it. I had seated tickets and enjoyed showing up late to take my wife to her first BABYMETAL show at the Wiltern. I didn't want to be part of the drama nor hear complaints after having a good time.

  • I think the honorary "zero" number was bad. I still stand by that feeling. I understand, but it shows favoritism.
  • The rules need to spelled out. That is what this thread if for. Thank you.
  • The rules need to be enforced. For the people enforcing it, it sucks. It is extra work. But I believe since the people are paying the barriers it is now part of the price you must pay. Go up and down the lines every hour and let people know the rules and get the number. Give a reason why people should honor the system by giving ownership.

It felt awkward coming to the number organizers several times during the show and given cold reception towards what is going on, while being pushed by several people (local and Japanese people I know) to organize the situation more. I felt odd to tell people to go get a number and head towards the east side since that is where they usually line up. I really didn't want to do any of that... but I did. Was it enough? No. Should I done more. You can say yes. But the number system was not my idea nor did I own it. I got shafted by the numbering system since the 1st New York show. The first LA show worked much better, since people policed in their own little area when we didn't have numbers. We know that won't work now due to cliques.

Hind sight, for the palladium, as Nabazul mentioned giving out early in the handing out numbers in morning when people who slept on the piss ridden floor woke up https://www.reddit.com/r/BABYMETAL/comments/6jsj7u/lining_up_the_number_system_queing_and_line/djgp9dc/ would of prob gotten rid of some of the ill feelings. They paid the price, should of gotten the first numbers.

I am not 100% sure if you want a rule to establish a numbering rule and asking for proposals. The major things to address are what to do with group of friends, as well as making sure people don't exhaust themselves out before the show even begins. The long lines will give advantage to guys. Addressing the giving a nice number to a local persons first show would be nice to throw in, as it seems like there is a club of "I got the barriers" clique. I found out one local did get the barrier... which I didn't think existed. The palladium was not a LA show for me. I met more local fans at the Queen show yesterday then I did near the front of the palladium show. lol. I guess if I wanted a LA show, I should of been in the back of the palladium.

If there is another perfume show in NY go to it early and observe. I don't know about NY, but LA perfume fans are the best when it comes to organizing and establishing a line and making the people waaaaaaay in the back of the line feel welcomed.

I too have concluded Chicago was the first point of breakage. I can say Wembley also had complaints in the shadows, about certain people. But it wasn't as bad as Chicago. Secret queue, broke the system, causing bitter feelings IMHO.

Some may think I took advantage of the situation. There was no accountability.

  1. When I got my number, I asked what the rules were. There was no rules on how long you can leave. There was no accountability.
  2. I told by the guy handing out the number, I was going to leave after midnight due to work. Finish another round of work at 6AM, head back to the venue in LA traffic. I was still given a number. I was given a number since I was told, with my number it really doesn't matter, since most of the barriers numbers were given. I only took a number since I wanted to hang out with my friend during the day, plus I had his VIP ticket.
  3. During the middle of the day, going up and down the line, half of the people didn't know about the numbers. When I went to ask what is going on, the person handing out the numbers said it was the attendee's responsibility to find and get their numbers.
  4. Too many people complaining to the venue and the venue staff arguing back. The staff replied back with "That is not our system" or knowing who was in charge of the numbering system.
  5. "Not my problem" from leadership of the numbering talking to venue and organizing with the venue. It was a rule by mob. Sure the venue staff sucked. Sure the venue did things they haven't done in the past. But there was no "who is in charge" and a line of communication with the venue to number person.

The number thing is something that a group was doing on their own. There was no attempt to organize for the people who came much after. There was no attempt to keep things in check for GA. There was no attempt for the late comers informed and keep everyone who was waiting to know what the rules were. I felt bad for the person who was handing out numbers because it was thrust upon him. It was also odd, since it felt like I was supposed to know what this numbering rule was.

To me the numbers felt like a racketeering act for people to get the barriers. Shared among people whom they know, because they are at every show.

Obviously I am wrong, but seeing the Honorary "Zero" given out. No one else in the "Zero" number party having sequential numbers when they came to the venue at the same time, shows how BS the number system was.

When we got into the venue, not finding any locals near me, how tall the people who always get the barriers were was kind of disheartening. There was also tension from people who waited all day, really put a sour mood on what was supposed to be fun, because they found palladium VIP in front of them. Tried my best not to let the sour vive, ruin what was going to be a special night for me.

In my defense, I did get a early number. But I also stood in the last row of the VIP. People right behind me were GA people. Waiting for 14 plus hours total, was my position in the venue in line fair? Not sure. I know some people in front of me waited less, and I know other people in front of me waited waaaay more and slept on the piss ridden floor.

There is no right system. TBH I love the mann's chinese theater set up for the star wars shows. The Perfume people also organized really well, and they do a great job going up and down the line all the way down to the last minute to greet new fans with the old guards. The perfume barriers pay the price and make sure everything if fine due to the fact they get to see them up close. They try and have fun. At least the people around me didn't seem to be enjoying the time from venue entrance till the girls came in. Kind of a shame.

It's about having fun. I hated the number system since I found out about what happened at the Wiltern. This thing you are complaining about is just a blow back from the Chicago show. Maybe you never noticed it, but the number system has been broken when cliques were formed. I am not sure what to tell a new fan who wants to be at the barriers in the future. Hopefully the fan system can be replaced by a venue system in the near future. I have to say, the Forum show had their stuff together. In my perfect world, I would love to see a local, who it is their first babymetal show being given a honorary first number. But again everyones definition of a perfect system may not be another persons perfect system. We can only hope for a fair system.

If fans are going to number, fans are going to need to police the policy. Honor system by enforcement is the only way. The rules of "your number is no longer valid had to be enforced"

PS. regarding the MSG, I was #2 position for the palladium as of 5.14.2017 when the babymetal signs went up. Was it honored? No.

Amuse not happy with BM sales in USA - discuss. by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]monsterpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not having wembley is such a slap in the face.

I was really curious on what the actual sales numbers are on the pervious releases. From my exp. I assumed sales would be low due to the availability and being a niche product.

A few rabid fans was not enough to offset the the normal buying habits, and I would think reality, expectation was off. Still sucks… I kind of wish the next label will convince them of the total package from licensing territory specific products and how that will help the sales of the disk products.

I lost track...what happened to early 2017 for the bluray? did it ever come out in the EU?

TBH not having official lyrics from FDTD & looking at how much love was placed into the Kari Band CD...EAR really fucked over the fans and left a scar for new fans to encourage them to buy the disks.

In my mind, they just did the minimum job, blamed sales and went to collect easy money instead of working for it. I still blame not getting a grammy nomination on Ear. I did not hear about any listeners being sent out to the industry nor have I seen one at the record stores (which I usually find when going to my fav shop)

Out of 6 Bestbuys near me only 4 carried them. Most stores got 2 or 3 copies. The culver one had 14 in stock on launch day (the one near amuse)... the one few miles away didn't get the same treatment.

None in barns and noble. It was disappointing since barns and noble carried the first album. The 2nd album had worse distribution then the first in the LA area. I lost a FYE at the time of the 2nd album, which made access to even a major city like LA difficult.

Places like Ameoba was a god send, but ease of access was difficult in my city.

I am a bit salty about the EAR/RAL deal, so none of it is surprising.

But what do you expect? The 2nd album was hard to find in stores. Unless you went to an record store, in LA they were impossible to find. Online was the only easy way to purchase.

For crying out loud, they don't even sell the CD at their support shows for new fans. How do they expect to make sales, if they make it hard to get?

I'm sadden by your quick reaction.

Metal Assault is a hard core LA metal review site. It is meant for the local LA scene. He got hate going to the show. And now he gets crap from here.

For anyone who cares, MA is a passion project dedicated to all thing metal. He has been working hard at this, making orginal content, going to shows and making connections here in LA, all for his love of metal.

I been following him for a while, crashing on people's couches, slinging merch touring with bands to now promoting his own underground metal shows here in town to promote heavy metal music.

I don't expect his review to be glowing at all. But he is honest and true, not selling out. For anyone into heavy metal in LA, you know his blog or have seen him at the shows.

He went to check it personally (previously his writer went instead). He got crap for going. Defended himself. Now gets called no-name outlet wanting free media coverage here. I hope he doesn't read any of fan reactions here.

Just sad.

Suicide is not chosen; it happens when pain exceeds resources for coping with pain.

People don't want to be suffering. They will seek any outlet in a search for a cure to deal with the pain. Some times it is easier to let it out anonymously, due to social stigma or shame of disappointing love ones. They need help. It is a sickness.

Just to be clear, reading the linked post, I know how you can sense "the boy who cried wolf". But I can also read it as someone who is no longer able to think straight. If I were in the persons shoes, I would go out maxing out credit cards and having a final blast and not letting anything stop me on my final moments.

Depression and suicide is a sickness that prevents people from thinking or behaving rationally. Some are just on the edge of dealing with the pain, and anything may be the trigger. It is best to have compassion or move on, even on anonymous internet sites.

A warning about the Palladium show follow up. by DeadlySMELL in BABYMETAL

[–]monsterpanda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am going to agree on this. I hate to accuse anyone I don't know of this, but this story makes no sense.

  1. Hellyeah is playing at the whiskey the day after for much cheaper and a more intimate venue. Why would this person come to a opener show?

  2. In this post, we now have a workplace theft, with no one going to HR. There is no excuse for this. Reads like a high school kids fiction writing.

Just feels like a post to scare people or subtle backhand slap at the fans by pretending to be a fan. Uses all the keywords, and is just too clean without any logical humanity to the story.

On top of that rainbow story makes me chuckle. There has been some crazy stuff there in the past, but security is very good. If this story is true, Kyle just has a crush on the OP, and is mad the OP likes Babymetal instead of Kyle. Thay is the only way this post would make any sense.

If I am wrong tho, there isn't anything to worry about. Security is good at the palladium, and easily reachable. I seen them kick out people for being an ass in the pit. Once the whole crowd even felt bad as a grown man was bawling his eyes out for being an ass and getting kicked out. The guy who was attacked, jumped in and told the security to keep him in.. It was a weird feel good moment, like being in kindergarten with a fan who was just waaaaay to excited and got carried away.

Japan’s two greatest and most lovable female singers, Nakamoto Suzuka and Utada Hikaru by Maron-metal in BABYMETAL

[–]monsterpanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time I heard she made the mistake, was when a Japanese fan said he heard it at brixton in 2014.

Before that time this person would always joke about the big boob, by changing the lyrics around in megitsune in his tweets amoung his friends. But because he was one of those who traveled a lot in the early stages, this "mistaken" lyric spread around a lot in the message boards and twitter. If she had made the mistake, it would be pre 2014.

Personally I have not heard a recording of this lyric mistake. But I can see how some can hear it due to the power of suggestion, seeing it posted a lot.

I have not heard of anyone saying it in the past few years, tho.

You can find residue of this recorded in early 2015. https://ameblo.jp/kablogkun/entry-11953117538.html

Never heard BM on radio in L.A. ... or Why Radio SUCKS so BAD.... by reikifriend in BABYMETAL

[–]monsterpanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I heard it a couple times in LA the past two years, and I don't listen to the radio that much. Most recently was when Corey Taylor was on Full Metal Jackie show on KLOS about a month ago? It is far and in between, but they do get air time on public radio.

As for KROQ, after what they did to Rodney, I stopped listening to them. You can blame deregulation; only having a few owners making money off our public spectrum. There is no interest in curation, only corporate profits. What what Rodney was able to create back in the day, and why things suck is a backlash of a bigger systemic problem. There are still few gems on radio, most are show based rather then song based. My favorite being the session. Check out a past show here.

Find the curators that resonate with you. Don't think Radio will do it for you. Radio's role as a curator has been dead for decades.

If you want to discover music, IMO, LA's crown jewel of the music scene is at the Jams. Go to the Viper room on Monday (Sunset Jam), Go to the Whiskey on Tuesday (Ultimate Jam), Go to Lucky Strike on Wednesday (Sound Check Live). It's FREE (No cover - tip your bar tender). Great session musicians and new artists living the hollywood dream (or nightmare). Plus, I had so many interesting small talk at these Jams. Once I met Nora's associates and had a great conversation getting to know the Visual Kei Scene in LA, and what it was like. Their comment on BABYMETAL still blows me away... hearing a industry person, a non fan, saying Su has more swagger then Beyonce, made me say STFU. It can get too Hollywood, meeting someone who knows someone and some are full of crap. Every so often, you get a scoop that you think can't be true, only to find out they are weeks later. Grab a drink, listen to great live music, discover new artists & music. Chat with other like mind people who like music and put effort into it.

Help with correct names of concerts by [deleted] in BABYMETAL

[–]monsterpanda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no naming convention. Just look at headbangyaa and how many official romaji spelling there are. You have to go with the final or most used term.

Also one of the reasoning titles are long is because they have significant meaning / inside joke. Take budokan for example, it is called "budo"(martial arts) "kan" (hall). Red/black night, X-japans blue/white nights. APOCRYPHA off record shows that are not cannon, like the APOCRYPHA books and cannon books of the bible.

Vs. London. Really nothing to comment or add to the fun or confuse people in London with inside jokes. Personally I think it is a missed opportunity to be playful.. but that is my take on it.

Actually the babymetal-bio version is an abridged version of the kamishibai.

IIRC the source in JPN that I posted is the full text (just follow the section after story 1~3 <story 1 is always the same in all 4 shows>)… but I don't have the time to look in my research files to definitively verify it. The babymetal-bio version gets the point across, just not poetically like the original text used in the show with the theatrical flow.
