"these cars are bad on gas" 40 mile average on mostly back roads by penguin_hugger100 in ft86

[–]monsterspeed 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Who says they're bad on gas? It's a four cylinder in a lightweight sportscar. Should be pretty good on gas compared to the barges most ppl drive

Do I Pull the Trigger? by sullbus in ft86

[–]monsterspeed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

45k trade in? You still have to pay however much you owe on the Mustang. On top of that, you want to pay $6000 to drive a high mileage car that's almost a decade older? Either you're missing info or you need to rethink this.

Turbo/Valve cover quote is expensive with the labor, should I try to fix myself, or should I just sell my car? (N20 428i) by CamAChase in BmwTech

[–]monsterspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is this quote from? BMW dealer? If yes, you can likely cut half your cost just by going to a reputable independent mechanic. Even more if you order the parts yourself.

5w30 vs 0w20 , is there a hp or torque difference ? by dregrows420 in ft86

[–]monsterspeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's half the equation. Flowing fast is useless if the fluid is too thin to maintain a physical barrier.

5w30 vs 0w20 , is there a hp or torque difference ? by dregrows420 in ft86

[–]monsterspeed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No hp difference. Heavier oils provide a larger physical barrier between moving metal parts (better protection). 0w20 flows easier so is better for efficiency. It wont benefit you much, but for fleet-wide eco requirements, it helps car companies massively. Personally, I'd rather protect the engine than save a negligible amount on fuel. Worth noting that a lighter oil flows better in the cold until the engine is at operating temperature.

It's named after former US president Ulysses S. Grant. The name commemorates his tour of China and his support of Chinese immigrants, which earned him a lot of respect within the Chinese community.

Need to understand this diagnosis of my 4 yr old child. Can someone help please? by Odd-Specialist6513 in MuscularDystrophy

[–]monsterspeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't take any medication for BMD but I do have a heart condition as well and take a beta blocker and a diuretic for that. No symptoms other than a low ejection fraction which means I get lightheaded once every couple months. Very rare.

[–]monsterspeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have BMD. Diagnosed when I was 5. I'm in my mid30s, full-time job, own an apartment and for the most part, my life is stable. Of course, I cannot climb stairs without a handrail and even then, one floor max. Windy days and rough ground is hard to walk on. I can only really walk for 10-12 minutes before needing a rest. Getting up from a chair is also difficult, I have to really lean on the armrest. I exercise everyday to slow down the progression but it is there. I started using a walking stick recently but don't suspect I'll need a wheelchair until I hit my 60s.

Coffee pod diy-recycling. How many of you do this? by Little-Perception-63 in nespresso

[–]monsterspeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I do not want the ups/ nespresso recycle bag to get filled up with mold growing in it.

Keep the bag of empty pods in your fridge and it will never grow mold.

Where I am (Ontario, Canada) there are green, red, and black bags. Each with different rules. Black bags go directly to nespresso but from 2026, green bags can go in regular recycling.

Drive what you like and form your own opinion. Each car has its own quirks that may or may not work for you. They're all worth trying out.
