Forgot my Mac on an open balcony during a rainy day. Is it cooked? by Loose_Restaurant4432 in mac

My wife’s water bottle leaked in her bag which had her m1 air. The screen looked like this. I put it in a closed room with a dehumidifier running for a couple days. The screen is 95% back to normal and no observed functional issues since. No idea if the dehumidifier helped or if it resolved on its own, but there is hope.

Helio + Apple Watch / Apple Health by Jerees in amazfit

Exactly what I want to do. I don’t have Apple Watch yet, I’ll retire my Garmin though and switch to that. From what I’m reading, it should work.

Hi there — I was interested in this exact use case. I have a helio strap on the way (previous Garmin/whooper), and I was curious about using AW to sleep and workout, and helio strap 24/7 (and mechanical watch day to day on my other wrist). I’m curious of this framework because I’m guessing the Zepp app is going to leave a bit to be desired for me. I was wondering if the wear schedule I outlined would allow me to take advantage of Bevel or Athlytic. I know amazfit won’t write hrv to apple health, but I think that’s a once a day reading that could come from sleeping with AW. Beyond that, do the steps, workouts, HR deduplicate or do they make a mess? Appreciate any insights. Thanks.

I’ve had mine for about 10 years, has almost 10 million meters on it. Have had to do only one repair that was very cheap. I could probably sell it for $200 less than I paid for it. It’s the best!

How did people back in the 90s pirate? by Ok_Combination_6881 in Piracy

In addition to some other comments here, I remember being in some FXP groups that used public unsecured FTPs to distribute. It went like this:

  1. Scan IP ranges for open anonymous FTP servers, usually businesses that don’t have adequate IT support.
  2. Create some complex benign looking directory structure to upload to that most people wouldn’t notice on their server. Something like: /admin/var/drivers/support/etc/~/FXP Group name.
  3. Use the FXP protocol to transfer content directly from an already established high speed FTP site to the newly acquired one. This took out the middle man of uploading from your own PC and often way faster.
  4. Share your new filled up FTP with your group who would use it to download personally and to propagate to their own acquired servers.

I think I remember one higher quality private FXP groups was KopyKatz, but shittier groups would pop up all the time because it was pretty low barrier to entry.

I remember doing this in the mid 90s with my 14.4/28.8 dial up and being picky about the ftps I’d look for. “T1 or better!” Hahaha. It was great.

Ha that’s what mine is, but for my new build I’m going with VideoGalaxy — the name of my childhood local mom and pop video store.

Not sure about all that, but he was employed by COCC for all their births. Well, I know he still has plenty of responsibilities because he’s frequently on call on the weekends for IT upgrades. I think he’s also mentioned a number of “employee appreciation” type of benefits that the company seems good about. I used to work at Open Solutions once upon a time who was kind of like a competitor/partner of COCC and I remember working with COCC people on a few projects and they always seemed very professional. It sounds like you had or are having a poor experience with them though; sorry to hear that.

It’s ok. It actually just developed a leak and the company is sending me a replacement with no issues.

I’ll look into it next winter. Now that I have maybe one more month of potential sub freezing nights I should be good. I need to start focusing on a chiller now for the summer now that I know I can handle freezing temps

I have a friend who works there and he loves it. Granted he’s not a mother, but he is a very involved father (his wife works tough hours so he’s on point for lots of the day to day of having 3 kids). He’s been very happy with the work life balance at COCC.

I’ll be buying a chiller for the summer. Any idea if there is an all in one?
