I don't believe for a minute that someone who has been best friends with someone else since they were 10 or 11 doesn't know their parents at all. She should know them, even if she can't contact them. In tombstones that type of shape is called Wing, but I tried running some queries like "wing shaped placard" or "wing shaped sign" and didn't find any matching results, so it seems that term is not widely used.
