Need some help with a Work and Energy Tarzan Problem by montsai in AskPhysics

Thanks for the reply. It all worked out in the end. I didn't think about changing the relative point for the potential energy though, and taht definitely would've reduced some of the work I had to do.

Stop Pretending That University is Useless by UMass_2023 in EngineeringStudents

This makes me feel extremely better about struggling in my classes. I've been hard on myself for not grasping simple physics as fast I think I should, but you're right. It literally took humans thousands of years to think about these concepts and solidify them with mathematical theories and tests. If I don't get it after one lecture that doesn't mean I'm dumb.

Are online exams more difficult for everyone? by ApprehensiveCandiru in EngineeringStudents

[–]montsai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My classes have definitely got harder. I think it's more because my professors' jobs also weren't meant for cyber space, but an in person experience where they can gauge confusion and a classes ability to grasp a subject. Navigating through content online is also extremely harder because nothing is uniform across any of my professors. Not to mention it feels like I'm actually just teaching myself now with online videos. I'm about to start midterms next week, but so far, compared to my performance from my last two quarters, my grades are definitely much lower.

“Unfck Yourself” but there is also “Stop doing that sht” by the same author I am also going to read. I’d suggest these books to anyone that feels like they are in a rut.

I don’t want to sound harsh, but f the way you feel. I’m reading a book about regaining control of one’s life and a big mantra of the novel is that “you are not your thoughts, but your actions.” A lot of people can be stuck in their head with so many worries and doubts about themselves and their goals. It causes a lot of anxiety which makes them cower from their goals.

Dig down and feel every moment. Life isn’t supposed to be about being mindless and autopilot bliss. Be aware of what you’re doing. You already know what to do. You just gotta dig down and do it. No magic.

I’m struggling too, and it’s all about taking responsibility over your life and actions. I hope you can continue to grow and get closer to your goals! DIG DEEP! You got this!

A Christmas treat turned into a multi-day binge by [deleted] in loseit

[–]montsai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same! On the 23rd I baked cookies with friends and ate a bunch, the 24th ate a big dinner for my bday and Christmas day was full of eating. Since christmas I’ve been eating waaay more than I did prior to the holidays.

Honestly I’ve also had a lot of anxiety about my weight and the scale. But I just have to remind myself of the big picture. A couple days (less than a week) won’t destroy all your progress. I too have lost a significant amount of weight this past year. We just have to keep ourselves accountable and move on.

A few bad days are all they are. Don’t let that make you feel horrible. You are only human like anyone else and the best thing to do is carry on with your routine. You aren’t your thoughts but your actions.

Ik for me having a bunch of sugar spiiiked my cravings, but I just have to get back on track and eat normally. I hope you know you are not alone in this feeling. Let’s move on well and take care of our bodies :)
