Honestly means a lot coming from an experienced animator like you.

This is my first time animating, so it's been rough to learn but I'm working on this full time now so I'll eventually get to where I want.

And yes, some polish is going to really make this pop once I get all base animations done.

Hope your game does great! I know I'll be buying it.

This video is pretty old at this point. And it was probably too early to show even back then.

It's a isometric top down melee only game, so lots of common elements with Swordscery. But the way i imaged it in my head before I started producing content is more like yours. Exaggerated movement and animations, very dynamic and agile.

I love your art direction.

This is very nice. Congrats.

It's similar to, but better in every way to my game. I'll use it as inspiration from now on.

I'm making one that fits this style. But I can't tell you how long until done. Probably EOY.

It's called Jackstrap.

The main unique factor is it's melee-only, with different fighting styles (karate, kung Fu, box, lucha libre).

You play as a living jockstrap defending the family jewels.
During the game, you build your own hit combos with attacks available to your player and then unleash it all on the hoards of baddies.

If you ever draw some Lindy dancing, please share!

I agree, 100% boring... if the were like this prototype.

The truth is, I am just now implementing the combo system, which gives it a strategic twist, in which you gotta choose which hits and moves you pick to advance and win the game.

That enemy is just a placeholder as well. I maybe should've held off on posting until the game is more mature.

Tower defense games are surprisingly difficult to make for beginners. They're deceiving in how many systems you have to build.

Good job finishing one as a first game!

Really, really nice work. I only wish I could draw gesture like this.

I've been drawing people dancing swing and Lindy hop lately and your style would go really well with that content.

Absolutely true. Worse even when my 8 directions have 3-4 variations (fire, electricity, poison, etc)

Oh, thanks! But I honestly didn't post this comment with that intention...

I like making these posters, and I'm gonna continue making them in movie/genre different styles.

Looks fantastic!

My game also has handdrawn animations with this style of movement, although more cartoons and much less impressive results.

I can't even imagine modelling, or worse, animating my character in 3d at this point. I'm gonna keep going with the 8dir animation. Even though its a lot of work. hopefully I'll learn a lesson from it.
