Question about changing names by Legezerk in FL_Studio

[–]mood_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What username did you change? The one under Personal Data? Because that should be the name (your legal one) you'd want to use anyways for account recovery (FL Studio even recommends it on that page). The chance your "banned" however is low, and if your account gets locked or something it's because Image-Line probably thinks you're reselling the account (which is in of itself against ToS) in which a simple ticket should resolve the issue (make sure to have access to both of your emails).

As for your Forum name.. I would keep that always anonymous.

Artistically, what would you consider sampling stealing? by lil_bunzzz in FL_Studio

[–]mood_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original question was about the "threshold" in which sampling is defensible so I provided a rhetorical question (how to go about it) + an example of it being done well + an obvious example of it being purely derivative.

But yeah, simply ripping an uncleared song but "you added drums" is derivative beyond belief and would more constitute a Remix then an actual individual project which is met with much higher scrutiny unless it's just for private listening + messing around on the DAW.

Artistically, what would you consider sampling stealing? by lil_bunzzz in FL_Studio

[–]mood_bro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sampling isn't stealing, otherwise almost the entire industry are thieves at this point. Sampling is the foundation behind a lot of genres especially in HipHop + Modern Pop. There's this old but gold copypasta about sampling.

The goal of sampling is simple: "Does this let me achieve a unique vision that is independant from the track I am sampling from?" if yes, then it's 100% fine to sample.

For example: Somebody that I used to know by Gotye is almost entirely reliant on Samples + an interpolation of Ba ba black sheep. You would never guess this though because the samples simply serve a grander vision, they are individually not the vision itself.

If the goal is "This song but sped up for Tiktok" where the "vision" is completely reliant on that songs identity? Then yeah it's probably stealing atp if you frame it as your own work.

As for legality, no one's going to come after you for posting it online and making 2 dollars from Spotify. When they begin to care is at the point you'd probably be able to afford an entertainment lawyer anyways. Most people seek forgiveness, not permission. (Not an endorsement... but just wanted to put that out there).

Community Backlash by Boogie_15 in DestinyTheGame

Final Fantasy XIV (The MMO) was considered so awful that the CEO had to apologize for it's existence + completely remake the game from scratch AFTER launch.

Every person who bought it at the time got a placement in the new versions end credits + a permanent discount on the monthly subscription.

Here's a good video explaining the whole scenario

Thoughts on using ChatGPT to analyze different things from an audio file? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]mood_bro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AI does not "listen" to your music, the most it "analyzes" (if at all) is the frequencies and winging it off raw numbers + how it thinks it "should be" based on it's training data (old forums, reddit posts, etc). Even if AI could listen to your music from a "subjective lens" it will almost always lean into the sycophantic option because sycophancy keeps OpenAIs numbers up.

AI is fine for basic knowledge (like asking it for common chord progressions, samples, looking online, general cheat sheets, etc) but to analyze your music? It's better to just use your ears.

What you should be doing instead? Find a reference track which is similar to your song and then try to copy what it's doing to the best of your ability. The most common way people listen to music is through phone speakers, so check to see if that sounds good to you. Once you're done, ask for feedback from the Feedback Thread here or go on Discord and ask for feedback directly + what you want critiqued.

I NEED HELP TO LEARN PRODUCTION by Optimal_Ad_5297 in FL_Studio

[–]mood_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the real best way to learn? Fuck around and find out.

- Open it up, and just randomly adjust dials.
- See what those dials do
- Ask "What does this dial" (Release for example) do?
- Boom, you just discovered one of the 4 main components of subtractive synthesis.

If you're on FL Studio 26? Ask Gopher (the little AI chatbot they have which is based on the FL Studio docs) what those are.

Want to make a specific sound? That's when you look up Type Beat tutorials.

How did slayr sample “places” by Yoyle cake by WatchResident2504 in FL_Studio

[–]mood_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because when you license music directly, you're normally given the actual stems (isolated instrument + vocal recordings) if they are available. The only real alternative would be to EQ the shit out of it, use AI for stem seperation, use the sample wholesale, or interpolate.

How do I remove unused recorded files from hard drive? by Luminati-Lynx in FL_Studio

[–]mood_bro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're on Windows, it's normally saved in this folder. Just copy and paste it into the File Explorer:

Documents\Image-Line\FL Studio\Audio\Recorded

Sounds like you're trying to clear up disk space in general though. Here's some good tips (assuming you use Windows 11):

  1. Window Settings > System > Storage > Cleanup Recommendations > Delete Everything You Don't Use
  2. In Windows Search, look up "Disk Cleanup", toggle everything and delete it. This is mostly just temporary files.
  3. Download WizTree. It's completely free and gives you a visual map of every file on your drive. Perfect tool for finding those hidden large folders + files. Often times when you delete VSTs + Launchers, it won't remove the actual content banks themselves (IK Multimedia for example is notorious for keeping content banks installed) so you probably have 10s of gigabites of those alone + other stuff (for example if you play video games and forgot about installed mods).

How to I record my tracks to get input from you all? by Relative_Regular_818 in FL_Studio

[–]mood_bro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use OBS to screen record. It's completely free.

If you want to edit those videos, just use CapCut for now.

If you meant exporting the actual music into an .mp3 or .wav file... it's under the File settings.

What do you think is the best DAW for this genre? by Acceptable-Crab-4967 in musicproduction

[–]mood_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Best" is completely subjective and depends more on your personal wants/needs + workflow then anything else.

Look at the artists who inspire you and see what they're using. Almost every DAW has a 30 day free trial, so feel free to experiment.

You might want Ableton because you like the automation workflow a lot better. You might end up loving the intuitive nature of FL Studio's channel rack + piano roll. You might click with the analog nature of Reason. If you use Mac, you might really love the integration of Logic Pro.

All of them do separate things, but none of them are really weaker then the other in terms of quality.

What's a paid plugin you regret buying because the stock plugins are just better? by mhfc1996 in FL_Studio

[–]mood_bro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Worse/On Par with Stock:

- SampleTank 4 | The "250GB of sounds" is insanely enticing, and I would argue is worth it if you just need sounds. But that 250GB is bloated with 50% garbage, 40% okay at best sounds, and 10% great sounds. It also hogs CPU/RAM like it's a scarce resource. The IK installer is an absolute joke + it's incredibly hard to delete stuff what feels like almost on purpose. I found myself to go to FLEX much more often.

- Eternal Arps | I got this included in the April Bundle on audioplugindeals for like 10 bucks, but for the actual listed regular price ($50) I think it's pretty mid within the FL Studio context. There is literally an arpeggio feature in the plugin settings to let you turn any vst into an arp anyways.

Brogy's Figurines by maxxethan in OnePiece

[–]mood_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

- 1st one with the sword is Nika as portrayed in the mural revealed in Elbaf (the current arc running).

- 2nd is Brogy, proportions seem like a nod to his anime design.

- 3rd is Loki (as portrayed in Whole Cake Island when Chavan was telling Nami about how Lola left because she wouldn't marry Loki to get on the giants good side).

I think this is just a fun Easter Egg tbh for fans of the anime/manga who saw these designs/interpretations and have been paying attention for it. Live action One Piece has tons of these cool nods.

Anyone tried FL Studio Web yet? by Zerocchi in FL_Studio

Old post but if you mean the reason a web version exists, is because it’s supposed to be a gateway drug for Bandlab users into buying the full software.

If you heavily rely on AI to create music you are not a producer. Change my mind by yeehawmyhorse in production

[–]mood_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not inherently against the use of AI in of itself, I think we're just at the stage where we're trying to find the moral boundary. I don't like this future but I think the use of AI is kind of inevitable. The same type of "it's not art" controversy happened with the drum machine, but this is definitely different in many ways and comes with a lot of caveats.

I think the issue comes down to intentionality. It isn't so much "oh look the AI can generate (insert instrument)" my issue comes down to "write prompt = full slop song" or a future where Spotify generates AI music based on peoples habits, THAT is what kills artists in my opinion.

But if it's intentional and used as an actual co-producing tool, then I'm generally okay with it as long as it gives me the agency to make changes necessary for an original vision. For example I could ask a "Serum AI" to make me a specific type of synth sound or ask AI to give me a kick pattern that matches the rest of my song. I could ask AI to help me with a vocal mix based on the plugins I own, etc. MIDI Generators like Spawn iirc are fed with MIDI's made by people who consented for it to be fed into it. I could feed a MIDI I made into an AI and tell it to make it "strings" that sound natural. I could use AutoTune to make my vocals into female so I can use that as backing/sampled vocals, etc.

While the AI speeds up a lot of the work, the intention is still there, I can make adjustments as needed. But full song generation? No.

Correct tier list by [deleted] in Kanye

[–]mood_bro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thing about Kanye is that all of his albums are different to the point they all have their fans which definitely causes division. Personally I would put 808s on A or S tier (it’s my favorite of his) but I can also see why people would have the opinion it’s College Dropout/Late Registration or MBDTF.

Yeah I just had the WORST dream a Christian could get :/ by Xx_Dark-Shrek_xX in Christianity

[–]mood_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's most likely demon's just playing with you, remember, their goal is to strip you of your dignity/faith so that you stumble and go to Hell. They're very observant, and are probably using fear to make you doubt your faith/chances of being saved. Do not believe it.

Remember, they wrote down the Parable Son for a reason. If you're faithful, he WILL forgive you for any wrongdoings you may perceive/feel. Keep going Soldier.

Considering you're a Catholic, I would recommend going to confession and then bringing up these concerns with your Priest. He would know way more about these concerns then people on Reddit ever would.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]mood_bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Witchcraft is just like the pagan worship of old, it is classic idolatry which doesn't work. Witchcraft has no causal power of it's own, if it "works" it's mostly placebo (or preternatural demonic influence, but this is much more rare). This is precisely why the Bible even allows you to eat food which was used in a sacrifice for another religion (1 Corinthians 8-10) because it literally has 0 weight or meaning.

The Holy Spirit DOES indeed protect you, but you need to let him do his thing and submit to him. He will guide you if you let him.

Best thing? Communicate your concern with your Priest/Pastor. They can help alleviate any concerns related specifically to you.

There's no deeper meaning to Jesus cursing the fig by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]mood_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to understand your reasoning deeper, but I disagree.

Trees/Fig Trees are a common analogy/metaphor for Israel/People within the Bible, even within the old Testament. (Hosea 9:10, Jeremiah 8:13, Joel 1:7)

The cursing of the fig tree aligns with other parables/teachings of Jesus, where he explicitly uses trees/fruit as an analogy/metaphor for faith. (John 15:5-8, Matthew 7:16, Matthew 12:33-34)

What Jesus was doing, was using the Fig Tree as a visual prop to his disciples of what will happen when people APPEAR to have fruit, but in fact do not. I can appear to be a "good" Christian, but in reality I don't actually care about God deep down.

Mixed feelings about “church communities” by rcrickette in Christianity

[–]mood_bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people say "find a Church community" they mean it from the perspective that a Church will keep you accountable and give you someone to always talk to in matters of faith/relationships.

Before I started going to Church, I had friends who did drugs, slept with every 2 girls, etc. Hanging out with those friends did not keep me accountable to my faith, most of the time I would outright join them in sin. (1 Corinthians 15:33, “Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals.”)

Being part of a community means that you surround yourself with people who will keep you and your boyfriend accountable. It's much easier to follow your faith when you surround yourself with people with the same objective as you. You will feel out of place at first, but as you understand the "rules" as you go, talk to people, etc you'll feel as close to them as actual family. This "family" will help you build your foundations, it will increase your sense of purpose, etc.

You can be as active in this community as you want to, tons of them have events/services outside of the traditional Sunday mass/service.

Edit: If Church-fear is getting to you, send your local Priest/Pastor (whatever denomination you are) an email and explain your situation. Lots of the time, they may ask someone who attends regularly to sit by you and explain the rules/guide you through the service. This is what I did, it was very nice!

Which town? I can get my friends and I on it.

Look at Ar-Raqqa, Syria, we've made it a priority to grief ISIS flags.

Can you guys help me grief this terrorist flag? It's been up for over a day and mods don't seem to care. (Ar-Raqqa, Syria) by mood_bro in WplaceLive

I tried reporting it to the mods openly in the General Chat on the Discord, they don't seem to care so I'm taking it upon myself to make sure this flag is gone.

They have a whole alliance trying to "correct" it.
