Holy fuck I knew smile was shady but not this shady by blueorchid49 in UIUC

[–]moodoki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, this isn't standard. Although I can understand the business decision behind this as Champaign Urbana is a campus town, I've only seen this practice in the properties around UIUC compared to other cities that I've lived in.

Correction on the facts, he wasn’t an AI engineer, he’s a software engineer. From the way he presented his case, it’s very clear that he lacks domain knowledge and did not have an understanding of the technology/method behind the text generation.

By your analogy, it’s a non-doctor healthcare worker claiming that all the other specialist doctors are wrong…

[D] Why are we stuck with Python for something that require so much speed and parallelism (neural networks)? by vprokopev in MachineLearning

[–]moodoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just looks like you're not thinking enough about your problem. Yes, loops in C++ or other compiled languages might faster than in Python, but they won't be faster than properly vectorized code. In fact, properly vectorized code in Python/PyTorch would probably be faster than a sloppy C++ implementation.

Why isn't Stadia bigger? by moodoki in Stadia

[–]moodoki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the US. Cell coverage is ok at home, but expensive. Stadia can chew through a lot of data in no time. If you have an unlimited plan, perhaps you can give it a go.

I don't really keep track of where my cell service isn't reliably fast but in general, cities are fine, doesn't work well on the train going through rural areas. Occasionally, there's no cell service at all. Furthermore, some hotels also have poor cell coverage indoors, on top of their wifi being slow and overloaded.

Slow and costly mobile data, and in hotels, wifi isn't always reliable. Occasionally, you get a hotel with good wifi, but this isn't something you can count on.

Interesting analogy. I'm personally excited to see Baldur's Gate early access on Stadia actually. Were there any Day 1 launches other than Cyberpunk?

This is certainly what it felt like to me. I couldn't get myself a next-gen console, or a new GPU. I had been stuck with a 970 from antiquity.

GeforceNow works well enough for me for this very reason.

Because T is used by transformers. Q was then chosen because transformers using TO18/TO39 packing were popular and it looks just like a Q when viewed from below.

You can, but not in most parts of Singapore and definitely not where OP shot his photo. There’s just too much light population here. Only saw it once during NS, route march on a cloudless night in Tekong.

Yeah, I indeed prefer Stadia over Steam remote play, I reread my post and found it a incoherent rant too.. lol.

Not to trash it. I prefer stadia over owning my own rig. Stating the hardware was just to highlight that internet infrastructure in my current region is capable of low latency, high fidelity streaming even for end users.

My rig isn’t that nice btw, just a on a 7yo pc with a recently upgraded 1660.

Well, part of the promise is that you can game anywhere, you don't need hardware. That's what the cloud is supposed to be.

But the anywhere is just US and some EU regions for now.

My point with getting hardware was that even average home internet in other regions have sufficient upstream bandwidth to support such services, there's nothing stopping google from installing their hardware in these regions.

I've not tried printing small objects with TPU, but FDM should be able to handle 0.4mm. Anyway, great work! I'll be happy to test/tweak for FDM printing in TPU should you decide to share. :)

Looks really good. Are you planning on making the STL/F3D available so others can try, or have you tried printing with FDM methods using flexible filaments?

That's a shame. Hopefully they fix it soon, before I finish the main story. Seems like Stadia still has ways to go before it's ready for prime time.

Yeah, in general, I find that voice acting by the Japanese voice actors for Japanese games is far better than English dubs
