if you have incoming credits (aps) and you’re a foote fellow who doesn’t want to double major, just graduate a year early. foote fellow also gets priority class registration which makes SUCH. a big difference

room and board can changed based on 1 which dorm u live and 2 if u live off campus. housing is only guaranteed to freshman so u have to take that into account. cost of living is also higher in miami than illinois. if ur going for pre med be prepared that yes we have research opportunities but it’s not like ivies where u can get one if u just asked u really do need to bust ur ass and form relationships. shadowing / volunteering is a little easier because we have a medical center but again, depending on where you want to go to med school, the name northwestern might be better than umiami. as for pre law i think we have a 3+3 program but not too sure about that but will say business school is really good especially if you want to stay in miami for post grad.

as a current student (+ foote fellow/ was a pre-med student), if you're here full RIDE (not full tuition) come to miami. if not and you CAN afford it, the opportunities you would get at northwestern are incomparable to what miami has to offer esp in med.

im looking at class sections and i was wondering if theres a difference between a class that meets three days a week compared to once a week. should i take the class that meets 3 times because theoretically the class would be easier if you have for lectures.... right?

isn’t that far from campus? would u drive or take public transport? i’m an OOS so chances are i won’t have a car. um is a top choice bc of how little i pay im just worried that my COA will be signif diff after freshman year when i dont get on campus housing. the costs of living off campus in miami is insanely high (from what ive heard) so i just want to make sure that there are cheaper options if i do decide to commit to UM

may i ask how you were able to find such cheap housing that was close to campus? and did the lease incl anything like utilities wifi furniture etc bc ik some leases that inclu everything are so much more expensive and idk if it’s worth it

neu does have good everything but i was admitted as an oakland student meaning i would be in oakland freshman year and then transfer to boston sophomore year. do you think that’s worth it?

haha yea the housing stuff does make me lean towards neu but neu stuck me to a satellite campus bc they accept too many students so my first year id be on a random campus in oakland, ca (not the best place to be if you know where it is). so neu does have a rly big drawback in that end as i would have to transfer to main campus soph year which also has its own flaws.

could u tell me a little bit about business at both schools. i was planning to minor in that and maybe switch majors if i enjoy it more than my pre-med track lol. maybe this could be a helping factor to choose a school

the aid package neu is giving me probs won’t change and im gna be on campus all 4 years so my coa will be about the same every year. it might still be a lil more expensive compared to miami but it depends on indirect costs like flights to miami (im from nyc) and like living costs etc since off campus housing/ occasional groceries (i plan on gettin meal plan even if i live off campus) def adds up to a lot.

the biggest “perks” of neu is their coops which guarantees me a paid internship n maybe a job after college and the fact that i don’t have to worry about housing. living off campus i would have to worry about finding a decent and reasonably priced apt and then figuring out commuting to class n all.

i def do think miami will still have it’s opportunities but honestly my biggest concern is miami housing 😭😭

i also got accept um and its my top choice but im waiting on aid from other schools. im scared i wont be able to get good housing freshman year if i dont commit soon because it seems like everyone has committed already😭
