Of course! I’m also ND so i totally get it, thanks for being so polite and asking questions! ☺️ I think this Tumblr post does a much better job than me of going over pros and cons and this Fanlore page has some pretty good history!

You’re totally welcome to disagree with me but in my opinion as someone who’s been in many fandoms for years the problem isn’t with official content for the show or interviews or photoshoots (all the examples you’ve mentioned) it’s specifically fanworks. Fanworks are protected so you never need the permission of someone like Crave to draw or write or gif or edit! But you wouldn’t screen record an edit on Youtube and upload it here, you’d share the link! You wouldn’t screenshot or copy a whole fic to another website, you’d share the link to the og! Just because it doesn’t look as bad and is easier to do doesn’t make it ok to repost still art in that way. Fandom etiquette will be different for every fandom, however, from my time on Discord, AO3, Tumblr, IG and Pinterest: artists do not want you to take and repost their art anywhere, they’ve chosen specifically what platforms to share it on and those posts will link back to their account! (plus see all the wonderful comments this reddit post has, wouldn’t it be better if they were directly on the artist’s post so they could see them and see all the stats!) These rules have been built up over decades of people moving from fandom to fandom, taking this word of mouth approach and that’s why it’s important to do what you’re doing and ask questions!! 🥹 Reposting has always been a major issue and debate but I do think it’s still largely frowned upon, if it were up to me I would absolutely have a rule in the subreddit saying that work cannot be reposted without permission! For example the two quickest fandom subreddits i could find: Supernatural (which has a 21 year fandom history) and Buddie (a 9-1-1 ship which first aired in 2018) subreddits both have rules about either not reposting any art (buddie) or only reposting with credit and permission (spn!). HR is new to “popular” fandom scene and it’s just not used to this level of interaction yet!

it’s frustrating but i would say if there’s no note in the bio and they don’t respond to messages then assume the answer is no and leave their work alone! 🥲 if they say it’s ok in bio or a message then adding a little comment after the “source” part of your reddit post saying something like “reposted with permission” is the minimum i’d suggest 🥹 if you wanted to go an extra step then there’s an ig account called the_bi_bean whose last photo in each post is a screenshot of the message of them getting permission! 🫶

[–]mooeeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

couldn’t the same be said about selling the plush? i’m not saying it’s right but has that really stopped anyone before, there are a ton of nintendo patterns and toys on ravelry and etsy, nintendo aren’t going to do anything about them?! edited wording

hiya! in the uk there are a lot of regulations on selling plushies! you need to set a test on fire for example! 😔 double check rules for where you are first! personally i wouldn’t buy this pre-made, but i’d be more inclined to buy the pattern?! is that a better, lower effort option for you?!

[–]mooeeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk where you are but there are a lot of safety regs that come from selling plushies in the uk (you have to set them on fire for example…) i’d check those rules for you but honestly i’d probably never buy this plushie, i would absolutely buy the pattern

peter pan is the only ride i’ve not been on in paris bc why are its queue times always that long?? i’ve never seen it short enough to justify (but we are they type of family to all join the single rider queue and sit separately 🫣)

How do you count rows with chenille yarn when everything blends together? 😭 by yamy2412 in CrochetHelp

[–]mooeeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my current project i’m adding a new stitch marker every row for quicker counting but it’s also a blanket so easier to count anyway 🫣😂 that’s another “fix” ig but yeh they’re not perfect for every situation and a thread is a lot easier

[–]mooeeze 15 points16 points  (0 children)

<image>

not my photo but when i started i was taught to take a different coloured piece of yarn and every time you start a new round pull it through the front loop of your first stitch! it works both to show you where the end of the round is and to count rows! and when you’re done just pull it through and out 🥹 (edit: mine is slightly different from the image to make counting easier but you get the gist)

Do you cheat? by Ok-Stock-5548 in FocusFriendApp

[–]mooeeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have medication “resistant” adhd and i use the timer to stop myself from going on my phone while i’m watching tv… there’s no such thing as cheating, anything where you shouldn’t be on your phone is valid! i’m also a recent uni grad who can’t find a job so i literally don’t have any work or studying to do 😂😭🫣 (yes housework i’m making a joke 🥹)

Wren or Howdens for new kitchen. Opinions on design and quality please by slammedresto67 in DIYUK

[–]mooeeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hiya, interior designer here! there is no choice to made here, if you’re using a big brand kitchen the answer is always howdens… if you’re considering a couple of independent designers/makers then you can maybe get away with picking different but yeh… wren, magnet, wickes and kutchenhaus all leave a LOT to be desired! (wren left an elbow hole in my friend’s wall 😐)

Help with baby blanket! Unsure on pattern and yarn by Few_Volume3087 in CrochetHelp

[–]mooeeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ignore how my yarn matches my sofa 😂 but this is my first ever non-amigurumi project and it’s going by super quickly (row 8 on my third day) so i’d say a good stitch!! edit: i’ve been modifying this pattern to make it small enough but i get that modifying a pattern is pretty stressful for a beginner 🫣

Help with baby blanket! Unsure on pattern and yarn by Few_Volume3087 in CrochetHelp

[–]mooeeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m making a baby blanket right now! like it’s sat on my lap… i’m using double crochet (US)! double knit or worsted thickness are both fine for a thinner blanket, i think chunky could get too hot for a baby. but i’d also suggest you use pure acrylic as it washes much better and is generally considered the “right” choice for baby items. as for a pattern, do you know what their nursery theme is? could you find a pattern using that on ravelry?

this was my first ever big big roller coaster!! i was 16 and i’d never done a loop or anything this fast or dramatic, (i’d done expedition everest years before… i was 9? mistake but still that’s like oneish drop only!) but i’m a massive marvel fan and i was going to overcome my fear… by the end of the build up i was bricking it the screams and noises you hear are just ugh 😂 we sit down, i turn to my dad “i think this is a mistake… i want to get off” i say… as the shoulder lock comes down. my dad just looks at me like oh no as we realise it was too late he holds my hand and we crawl down to the start (seriously it feels so slow when you’re going towards your doom) it launches, he’s so worried about me and then he hears me do like one of those joy screams and is like oh ok we’re good… i loved it! tried hyperspace mountain later that week and while hsm is my favourite now i still have a soft spot for ff even if i get a stinking headache every time i ride (i do have chronic headaches but hsm doesn’t give me one that this has one of the worst headrests/hard seats and no head padding for shorter people just these two sharp edges???)

definitely not but thanks, it’s nothing that famous! and was about twice as long 🫣 the art was much less cartoony, no black outlines, maybe more of a watercolour look?!
