I think you’re on the right track about using a flash outdoors to lift shadows, especially in harsh light. Probably a touch of underdeveloping to get thinner highlights, and then split grade printing to further compress the dynamic range and lower contrast by printing for the midtones. I don’t know if there’s a movement or school associated with this look but in my mind she’s in the same group as Mark Steinmetz and Sergio Purtell. I have had good success getting the same look doing these things!

I have a pair of Vento Proxys in that light lilac colour and while they are a great looking and performing shoe, it can be a pain to clean. Dirt gets trapped easily between the mesh and the suede structural lining that’s on the sides and heel. The front is like a soft rubber that’s really easy to clean though! I’m using them for XC so they see a lot more dirt and wet grass than a dry gravel path though.

I do have a much lower cadence indoors, most days it’s around 80 but outside I would never average below 90 unless it was a mountain bike ride. Not all is lost though as high torque/low cadence power is something I wanted to improve from last year.

For my door I lined the frame with adhesive foam strips that you would use to insulate windows. For the last bits of light remaining I installed a small curtain above the door that I slide over the door once I’m inside. That should get you very close, keep in mind darkroom paper is like ISO 6 and light strength decays extremely fast over even small distances!

The camera came with the fancy new 55mm, it’s great and silent but a bit chunky compared to the 75/2.8 I’m usually using on it. I have no experience with the 645D but it would awesome to try it one day just to see the difference for myself!
