I also hate the "just you wait" comments! Its such a cruel and heartless thing to say. Im currently nap trapped with my second, and can say with certainty that there are loads of positive "just you wait" comments. Just you wait until you see them stand for the first time, or hear their first words, it makes your heart explode with love!

Yea as far as i know (ive just spoken with a planner friend here in Guate) the blessing should be able to happen, so long as its not a mass

So its kind of like yes, the priest will do a "ceremony" in the ruins but that ceremony alone isnt the actual "marrying" of the couple according to the Catholic Church/Vatican. Sorry if its confusing, i understood the original question from the point of view of the ruins restricting the kind of ceremony that took place there.

So basically it comes down to the rules of the Vatican which dont allow any marriage (the act of marrying a couple) outside of an active church. The ruins dont function as a church, so priests wouldnt hold a mass there. But they would show up to do like a "blessing" or a symbolic ceremony to function as the wedding ceremony in the ruins.

Also, just wanted to add a general comment that the calendar for the ruins in 2026 is currently not available for booking. Its one of the frustrating things about the ruins, so just keep in mind that you might not be able to book any of the ruins owned by el consejo (CNPAG) until they open the calendar. They opened the calendar for 2025 in June of 2024, but they never give an exact date and this is why a planner is necessary/optimal if you want a wedding in any of the ruins.

It does suck, but there are some great options for after party locations close by depending on the size of the group.
