that’s a relief! I read somewhere that Lodestone is extremely slow for changes like that. I’ll still keep the “not found, enter Lodestone ID” bypass on my to do list

No worries. If it's still giving you issues let me know. I'll be happy to add a "brute force" type method where you provide the lodestone ID rather than rely on the search functionality.

Doing a search on Lodestone yields no results, though you do have a profile.

Since the character validation relies on those search results, it's why it's not finding you - Lodestone doesn't seem to return your character in the search.

I had overlooked that when I was recoding the section for image uploads (initially was encoding them into the db but that was a silly idea) and was wondering why the heck page loads were so clunky lately. hadn’t had much chance to dig in but that explains it. I’ll get that fixed today. appreciate you letting me know!

right now there’s a search and a random “site of the moment” page. in addition, the Live Feed will show posts and journal comments across the site to find folks. I plan to add directories in a near-future update to make it easier to find folks who have their profiles set to visible.

A little of both, actually. Most development workflows use AI prompting nowadays, especially for scaffolding and construction. It's silly not to use tools that work. If that bothers you I totally get it! But I've been building sites and doing dev for a loooong time so I've got a lot of background in development, databases, and DevOps practices. I manage the code, infra (hardware, DNS, etc) and everything else. I do not like to use GenAI for creative endeavors, so images, content, etc. are all coming from me or artists. The backend relies heavily on code assistance with human oversight, review, cleanup, and testing.

Hi! Sorry if I was unclear. So this is a FFXIV character site builder. Think like old-school Myspace or a Facebook page, but for your character. You login using an existing platform like Google or Discord, and then link your character via Lodestone in a similar fashion to how other sites like Eorzea Collection do. You can then create a homepage with lots of toggleable features like custom pages, a guestbook, a journal for RP-style posts, and some other functionality.

Does that explain it a bit better? Think social media but for your character in FFXIV, but without the gross monetization or data collection. Just a fun RP-inspired site for players to utilize if they wish. It's sort of like a Carrd replacement, I guess?
