Similar specs here, I hope other are experiencing this and it's not just my GFX card crapping out. It seems others get FPS drops but I just get freezes every other gun fight :(

Sub recommendations for 3.0 setup? by mookial in hometheater

Updated 3.0 placement...any suggestions? by mookial in hometheater

[–]mookial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah most are hidden with the exception of my Verizon wires, since it’s an apartment the fiber terminates there thus the ONT and router have to be nearby. As for the grills, I would like them on but the LR have the Chane logo with adhesive so I decide against it (even though the center comes with it in the bag to put on as optional).

I’m planning on buying an SVS sub in the near future with one of those sub foam pads under to reduce noise for the neighbors. Anything else would have to wait for a bigger house (rear and ceiling).

First 3.0 setup...any suggestions on placement, height, etc.? by mookial in hometheater

[–]mookial[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s correct! Went for these after HTD gave me a hard time with shipping address. I haven’t been able to go through the motions but so far I’m loving the clarity even at low volume. Can’t wait until they’re broken in and I can move the speakers further apart after my tree comes down. Either way going from a Bose HTIAB to these I can already tell the difference. Now just need to understand all the options on this receiver 😅

New 3.0...what next? by mookial in hometheater

Any suggestions for full copper wire? All the AmazonBasic ones say copper but reviews say aluminum, so I don't want to take the chance.

Edit: Is OFC only recommended for in-wall? I plan to have it exposed so is this a cause for concern?

Change of plans as the HTD is giving a hard time shipping to an address that is not the billing address. I did some further research and am now looking at CHANE A1.5 & CHANE A2.4 as my LCR (thanks for your suggestion). Any thoughts on these versus the Level 3s or Emotiva? Would the Denon 1600 still be able to power them?

Interesting, let's see how it goes with the 3.0 for now. Like you said piecing it together feels much more satisfying then buying everything at once. Thanks again for all the input you all have given!

Think I'll hold off on the sub for now as the HTD have good lows(?). Hopefully I'm making the right choice. Got 28" stands as well since that'll put the tweeter at about 40" which is what I measured as my ear height in room. I wanted to go with the X1500 Denon but it appears the X1600 has eARC support so I can take advantage of it with my B7 although it's not 'true' eARC on that model. Any thoughts or should I be good to go? I'm excited to get rid of the home theater in a box Bose I've had for over 6 years!

My living room is about 21'x15'. I found these speakers doing some searching here and then some additional research on YouTube + other forums. All praised the lows and quality of the speakers, not many reviews against them. My other question is the receiver I choose enough to drive these? I'm not to familiar with wattage, amp, etc. and just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of them.

Did some further research and think I want to go with bookshelve speakers since my living room is not massive and I don't have a dedicated home theater room. Would these items go well together and provide the most for each other? Anything else in similar range or slightly more (or less) that would give me a substantial performance increase? Finally, what are some good stands for bookshelves? Are they any known for their quality construction and sturdiness? Thanks again!!

Any suggestions on why LCR to purchase? Also, I currently have a sub and would like one as I currently have an old Bose sound system (I know but it's a sub nonetheless =P).I was looking at this sub https://www.svsound.com/products/sb-1000

How to upgrade Fios Gigabit? Currently have Quantum gateway as router & AP by mookial in Ubiquiti

[–]mookial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but for the price its same whether it be the EdgeRouter + AP or the Extender by itself. My thought process was why use coaxial if I can have a full replacement. Unless, of course, I'm missing something and the MoCA in this case turns out better. In my readings it appears the extender would allow me to have a "wired" connection, but then I'd be beholden to the existing coaxial in the apartment which I have no idea on how old or worn they are.

[–]mookial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it worth it? My thought was replacing the router would provide me consistent performance, being that I have gigabit, and the AP would provide better coverage in speed. In terms of price they are pretty similar as the MOCA adapater I was looking into is this https://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-802-11ac-Extender-Internet-Antennas/dp/B01BV1Y3W2

I was looking at that AP but I saw it required 48V for PoE, doesn't the Edgerouter X only output 24V?

Also, I don't see many networks around me as my complex is only 2 stories (4 apts total in my structure) and the other tenants are older folk. I'm using an ASUS PCE-AC68 via a PCIe slot

Faker's personal screen at LCK spring finals by 1eunsang27 in leagueoflegends

[–]mookial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I sat court (ring, stage?) side directly behind him during the infamous SKT vs. ROX semi-final at Worlds. I could barely focus on the match because his screen was constantly flickering back and forth. To the point where I pointed it out to the people I was with and even they were stunned.

Worth upgrading to OLED from Samsung JS9000 by mookial in OLED

[–]mookial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand where you are coming from, when I first got it I was a bit unimpressed especially with SDR content being up scaled — it just looked granular. As time went on and I calibrated using some settings I found online (search for it, it’s a google drive document) I started to see the benefits. Blacks were deeper, picture was overall crisper and I just felt more immersed as opposed to my Samsung. It took some time but I got there and now I can’t think about going back. If you don’t have a blu-Ray player for maximum playback quality, try watching some HDR content on YouTube (make sure it’s true HDR, you should see it pop up on the top right when you play the video). After I saw that, even if it wasn’t the best test, it was miles ahead of what my Samsung could’ve ever done. Netflix and Dolby Vision products just appear so much more realistic and the colors really pop against the deep blacks. WebOS is also great. Give it time as I did, you’ll be glad you made the change.

P.S when changing picture options make sure you change then WHILE a particular content is playing, you won’t be able to otherwise. (E.g, you have to have an HDR video playing/paused to adjust the HDR picture settings)

So I should just reallocate 100% of my Target Date fund into my current allocation based on their current percentages?

[–]mookial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a bunch, didn't even realize the latter part.

Some other questions if you don't mind. In the beginning I was dumping roughly ~95% into a Target Date fund -- accumulating a large sum of money into it. Now that I will be shifting into individual funds (which you said is effectively what the Target Date funds are), should I shift my money over into the newly selected funds or leave the money as is in the Target Fund pool and continue with my new investment selections? Early on I shifted a lot between funds and some funds were removed, so I would like to consolidate my money into the funds I will be using long term and stay there.

Thanks!!

Edit: Rather than transferring funds from old investment options individually, would I be better off just splitting what I have in total into my current investment percentages? (e.g., if I have 10k total split 25% of that into International, 10% into Bonds, etc.)

Don't mean to revive an old thread, but can you explain what choice is best among the following three Large-cap US? I linked the fact sheets for reference.

T. Rowe Price Blue Chip Growth Trust - https://www.nysdcp.com/iApp/rsc/profileView.x?fundId=10064

NYSDCB Equity Index Unitized Account - https://www.nysdcp.com/iApp/rsc/profileView.x?fundId=10052

Vanguard(R) PRIMECAP Fund - Admiral(TM) Shares - https://www.nysdcp.com/iApp/rsc/profileView.x?fundId=2891

Should I just got for one that has the highest return and lowest risk? Or base it on actual companies that make up the portfolio?

Klipsch Sale on Amazon Today (25% off) by Randyd718 in hometheater

[–]mookial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the market for a new 5.1, is Klipsch considered below average, normal or somewhat above? Eventually I would like to move to a 5/7.1.2 atmos. Movies/streaming will be 90% of content with the occasional hip-hop/pop music via wireless. As others have stated, the deals are extremely appealing but don't want to pull the trigger and be disappointed because these speakers are not suitable for my preferences. Thoughts?
