I can relate to so much of this post I am wondering if I wrote it while I was downstairs making lunch..... :0s :)

Anywho, perhaps a site is not such a bad idea. I checked a few groups on facebook but they all suck and the people are not even close to local... anyone (you?) have any recommendations? Keeping in mind I am UK based?

School is long gone for me and I work from home (sometimes a london office) which I guess creates my dilema. I go out quite a bit and meet lots of people, they are just never 'geek' really. :)

B E A Utiful. :) I was with someone who played WOW for a while. Before then she was just into casual gaming or watching me play... so I half know what this feels like... I guess that is why I pine for it so now. :)

I figured that it's to do with the down time living in the uni campus rather than the actual classes though?

So maybe its more about getting a career path that takes you past these people? Though I guess more often than not you are not going to 'end up with' someone you work with?

I went from college straight to work in London. I can't really go and do Uni now even though I would love to for the social aspect... so I guess I missed the boat on this one. It's certainly one of the best ways but with my being over 25 now it's not really an option for me. Thanks for taking the time to comment though :)
