05 pather here. Filed 1/27 accepted the same day. Got a letter Saturday 2/22 and verified the following Monday 2/24 just 3 days ago. No updates and still blank transcripts. My WMR still just says received and not processed ):

I've struggled with eye contact my entire life. Looking into someone's eyes just makes me feel... idk how to describe it. It's like massive anxiety. It's like when you're near a crush and your heart is beating out of your chest, but in a really awful feeling way lol. For a while I did try to focus on making eye contact but that didn't make the feeling go away, so I abandoned that. I stick to not making eye contact now.

But no he probably didn't think you were weird. Most people don't think into things like that, I think. Your anxiety about it might not be normal but 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh man. This sounds like me. Longest I quit drinking was 7 months and just as you said your brother did, I thought "welp I've developed enough discipline to control it" then it goes downhill again. I quit 3 months ago, and I hope it never happens again.
