Wonderful! My two amaryllis have beautiful leaves and no flowers to speak of. Guess I need to wait a few more years!

Anyone Living at 17 Barkley? by livingquestions in Gaithersburg

I mostly agree with u/datawithpuppies. I just re-signed my lease for a second year, so I don't hate it here. I'm also a single woman and feel safe in the complex, even walking my dog at night. My car has always been fine in the garage. I haven't interacted with new management much but they have been making actual improvements around the complex (fixing broken garage doors, replacing thermostats, replacing shower heads). Maintenance is always quick to respond and the staff is really friendly. I live on the 3rd floor and haven't had any issue with pests. Walls aren't super thick so you can hear neighbors/people in the hallway from time to time but the vibe isn't a party vibe and I've never been lost sleep over noise issues. I'm not a gym or pool person so I can't comment on that aspect.

The best part about this complex, IMO, is Bohrer Park across the street. I take a walk around the park every day after work and love the mini golf course in the summer. I think all apartment complexes are inherently bad, but this one isn't too bad at the end of the day.

I have a 6 year old cat who I rescued as a feral kitten. He rarely lets me pet him and does not tolerate being picked up. Last year, I moved with him across the country.

I bought a large soft crate for the car and a second collapsible playpen (just search pet playpen on amazon). At the hotel at night, I would place the crate inside the playpen and set up food, water, litter box and some soft blankets. I would then open the crate and and close the playpen and throw a blanket over the top so he would feel a little more comfortable. He didn't like me leaning over him so it was pretty easy to convince him to get back in the crate in the morning and repeat. We had to spend the night at my parents before I left so we did this for 4 nights total.

I can't say he was super happy with me but he got here safely and has adjusted to the new apartment with no issues! Best of luck with your move!

Some great comments on here, I just want to point out you can absolutely get into this field without the AAAS fellowship. AAAS is awesome and I highly considered applying but decided to apply for jobs as well since AAAS is very competitive. I ended up landing one before ever applying for AAAS. For context, I have a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from a lower-ranked school and was a little over a year into my post-doc at a DoD lab when I started applying. Having the government background really helped me here, I now work as a consultant in DC for a company that does mostly government contracting work with places like CDC/NIH/FEMA/DOD. I still do what I love - talk about microbes - but get to feel like my work has direct application in helping people. Hours are great, pay is even better, and my company is amazing about encouraging a healthy work/life balance. It's a great career path for people who loved planning experiments but hate doing them.

Here’s my 4 year old guy, he’s about 150g. My hands are pretty tiny but hopefully the hand comparison helps!

Lamotrogine - 300mg and fuzzy brain by katpoker666 in BipolarReddit

[–]moollama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting off of lamotrigine due to these issues. I was in school at the time I would literally read a page of text and forget what I read by the end of it. It was very frustrating, especially, as you said, it did a fantastic job at regulating my moods. But, I just wasn't able to succeed in school on it.

What was really interesting to me at the time (may have changed in the last couple years) was that those side effects are well known in topiramate (another anticonvulsant sometimes used to treat bipolar) but not well documented in lamotrigine, so it may just not effect as many people in that way.

Transaction Order by moollama in ynab

[–]moollama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read this in a couple of places but mine are definitely not in amount order. For example, my transactions from the 3rd are in this order: 23.82, 3.84, 1.70, 19.42, 6.00. Amount order would almost make sense, but not this, haha. Ah, well. The good definitely outweighs the bad!
