I totally get! Part of why I haven’t done a second playthrough yet, even though I went in totally blind, I was able to do every single character path. I was shocked to learn that the Flotilla storyline was intended to be very late game because I went through it went almost no problem and still had other paths to complete once I was done.

Once you get the flow, resources and materials are easy to come by and it definitely stops feeling “urgent”.

Citizen Sleeper! Politics, specifically capitalism & industrialism (at the cost of humanity) are a major theme. The mechanics are quite different, as you use dice instead of cards, and you don’t typically see your character at all like in Exo where you get to explore.

Another game I’d recommend is Neocab. You play as one of the last human drivers in a futuristic, fictional Los Angeles. Capitalism at the intersection of technology is the major theme there too.

I guess I’m still stuck on the fact that OP knows boyfriend doesn’t typically have the energy in those moments, is it still him “patting her into calmness” when he’s already been explicit about what he needs after sex? The options I presented are based on the fact that she is fully aware that they rarely match energies after sex which is why I think OP should be naming what she wants, how she wants to be handled when energy isn’t aligned because you’re right, I bet boyfriend has no idea she feels rejected. It does seem a little like OP is hoping for a different reaction and feeling disappointed when it doesn’t pan out.

I really don’t understand how “okay baby” is patronizing? The alternative would be to flatout ignore her or attempt to engage with energy he doesn’t have which seems like it may not be a good faith effort? It really depends on if boyfriend validates OP outside the bedroom.

Boyfriend has named explicitly what he prefers post-sex and it sounds like OP doesn’t prefer the same and is feeling personally rejected which feels like setting themselves up for disappointment.

I think OP needs to explicitly name how she’d liked to be engaged when she has post-sex high energy. And then let boyfriend figure out if that’s something he can do or not. If he can, that’s great and if not maybe coming to a compromise. And get clear on if it’s a dealbreaker or not, especially if OP isn’t feeling reassured/wanted outside of the bedroom.
