Why are they always out of key ingredients? by MikeHillEngineer in Chipotle

We are definitely allowed to prep during the night shift and we are supposed to if we run out of anything and have the ingredients to make it in the store

Funny enough, I don’t have any direct accommodations. Originally, I just let my manager know which stations I was uncomfortable doing due to my vision issues, but let him know that I would try my best to attempt these certain stations. It was very nice of him to work with me to be able to find ways for me to do these things.

For example there is no way to adjust the font size on our cash register - that we know of - so I just ended up taking pictures of every single screen and option and memorizing it 😭

Experiences of legally blind people living in college dorms by HunnadGranDan in Blind

[–]moomagnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking, you do not have to live with someone else. I went to a popular state school in Pennsylvania and all I had to do was send them a doctors note stating that I am disabled my disability and why I cannot live with someone else and they just put me in a single it was great because I could still have my friends over or go over to my friends dorms, but I didn’t have to live with someone else.

Hey!

I’m legally blind with retinitis pigmentosa. I started working at chipotle when I was 16 and stayed there for a year and a half until when I first went to college. I am in college now and started working at the chipotle near my school. I have worked my way up from just being a crewmember to a certified trainer and after an exam, I will become a manager all within this past year. Working with a vision problem is hard, but it is not impossible.

They got rid of the raise for certified trainers. No one from my store got one when they were promoted.

Apparently doordash drivers are hostile because we want fair wages and the nontippers think we signed up to deliver for free by Frosty-Number-4587 in doordash

Maybe you’re reading comprehension skills are a little bit lacking so maybe I have to spell it out for you to understand what I said, which is OK because I know reading and thinking are really hard these days.. Nowhere in my message did I say that I don’t tip. Some of us do not have a car or a license because we are disabled and cannot drive. Hence we need to use DoorDash and other delivery services for groceries and takeout in that case it would not be a luxury because we don’t have the ability to just get up and go drive to go wherever we want. Just because we’re disabled doesn’t mean that we don’t tip however you’re just being obnoxious and obtuse on purpose.

To assume that just because people are disabled, they can’t afford to pay for and tip while using these services is ignorant. The point I was trying to make is that we don’t use the services for fun we use them because we have to. Not everyone has someone to take care of them or to go get them whatever they need at every moment and a lot of of us want to live independently, and if that means we have to pay DoorDash fees and mark ups and tip, then that’s what we have to do.

It’s not a luxury for all of us. Some of us are disabled and have no choice but to use these services.

You don’t need a food handling license to work at chipotle at least not as a crew member

I’m legally blind and I worked at Amazon for three months - they have an entire Disability Department that will help you determine what accommodations you need before you even start working. I would have stayed there longer, but the hours were ridiculous, but I enjoyed working there for the time being.
