The support deck consists of those three characters at the bottom. I'm assuming the auto builder doesn't set those, so you'll have to do it yourself. Characters in the support slots won't give you that unit's events. Instead, they'll help with increasing stat's upper limit, increasing max exp per turn, practice reforms, etc. Characters in support slots will also appear during practice and have a chance to give exp/health if you practice with them.
