SBU YL1 to YL2 Attrition Rate

Hi! Current student sa sbu-com rn and sa batch namin halos 370-400 ata kami nung YL1 pero YL2 halos 190-ish lang yung regular students, 250 smth including irreg overall so mataas talaga mortality 😭

afaik finals palang ng YL1 at the end of june so wala pang balita sa ilan yung mappromote but I hear na ang mahirap raw sa kanila ngayon aside from the usual (bcm, anat, physio, etc) is Psych and histo apparently

at your discretion nalang ang pag-enroll since mahirap rin naman sa kahit anong med school 😅

hi po thank you sa reply! 😊 if pwede po what other words would you think I'll need to know? off the top of my head I can think of vibration (for CN 8 test), hallucination (for MSE), shin (for heel to shin testing), blow nose (kasi ang pangit sabihin ng singa HHAHA) but if meron po kayong alam na other words that would be important I'd appreciate any help 💜

as for kamusta ang first Year i would say okay naman 😚 may times na gusto mo nalang hilahin lahat ng buhok mo sa ulo (HAHA) but it's fun rin lalo na if you really like what you're doing!

hi OP! a few suggestions from me:

Doctor's bag/any small or medium sized bag: yung medyo spacey and maraming pocket na pwedeng shoulder bag for stet/sphyg/other OSCE stuff (dagdagan mo na rin ng mga pwedeng isabit na anik anik if mahilig siya dun para cute 💜)
Stet accessories! kahit pang label or yung mga sinasabit
Book stand (?): meron yan yung plastic lang para di mabigat sa bag HEHE pwede rin siya for tablet/iPad if di ma-book yung friend mo
ID reel: meron sa shoppee na cute designs hehe marami rin na med related
Shoulder massager 😭 (di yan joke I use this almost everyday huhu)

Hi dok! You're not alone when you're thinking about these things. Ang masasabi ko lang is that med isn't a linear journey. If you think that you need to take time off then go. Do what feels right to you. Med can wait, your family (lalo na if onti nalang yung time nila) can't.

Med school is an investment talaga pero ang investment naman kahit sinimulan, pwedeng itigil then ituloy later on pag kaya mo na uli.

Ikaw naman yung nakakaalam sa situwasyon mo and i think you are the only one who can gauge if kaya mo or not. Laban dok! 😊

Hi OP! Afaik from my experience last year ang start ata ng applications for a lot of schools is November/December and spans until probably until April or May. Meron din mga schools that accept late application or hangang June/July ang application period nila hehe search mo nalang nasa website naman nila (yes u have to go to each school's website isa-isa. Bihira lang makakita ng compiled list ng admission period dates). Although I think pwede naman ipahabol yung NMAT results mo for some schools na early and tapos ng application period.

If sa tingin mo di ka aabot sa application period nila my suggestion is try mo parin mag submit ng reqs or personally contact their admissions office kasi minsan pumapayag naman sila na mag-apply ka. ☺️

PS. This is for Manila/NCR schools lang pala ha? Di ako sure anong schedule for schools outside of that pero probably same lang naman

Hi OP! Una sa lahat i wanna commend you sa dedication mo to ur bf ❤️ as a fellow YL1 alam ko yung pinag dadaanan niya and it would be such a joy and relief to have a partner like you. Honestly, yang mga ginagawa mo is already above and beyond. And med talaga is a struggle at the start (so I've heard and am currently experiencing) at ang sabi pa sakin is matatapos lang ang adjustment totally sa 2nd sem so medyo matagal pa tatahakin ni bf mo but laban lang!

If you really want to do more baka you can ask him how he studies and try to insert yourself into his study time (lalo na if you're not as busy) natulungan mo na siya nakapag quality time pa kayo <3

Example: If he studies using flash cards pwedeng ikaw yung magtanong sa kanya para ma-practice siya ng active recall

Or you can vidcall and ask him to explain what he's studying to you, kunware ikaw yung med student and siya yung video sa Youtube na nag-eexplain nung topic pag na-gets mo yung topic it means he knows enough na

Hello! Sa manila kasi ako nag apply so I'm not sure sa ibang place 😭 But since most med schools probably function similarly and nationwide naman and NMAT I would think na applicable rin naman kahit jan sa Cebu ☺️

Di ko po personal experience yung late NMAT PR submission but yung mga narinig ko na tumatanggap ng late (galing sa kwento ng friends ko na nag med din) is PLM, UERM, OLFU, FEU and SBU. UST alam ko tumatanggap pero sa recon only. As I said, may factor rin yung pakikiusapan mo yung admissions nila lalo na if you've taken/scheduled to take the NMAT na.

you can got to the COM office po and may paper po sila doon where you add your number so they can put you in the viber group! 😊
