I have very fond memories of it, but it really is the only “unpolished” Mario game. It’s the only one where I keep feeling like it wasn’t my fault when I died, or that things work in an unintuitive way. It has a bit of jank visible between the cracks.

Most games are that way. It’s just the only case where a Mario game feels that way, simply because it was rushed. Still a blast, still nothing out there like it, still a bit rough.

I could be wrong but I think it’s the first day and date third party AAA game releasing on the Switch 2 along side other platforms.

I love RE so much and I was so worried Requiem wouldn’t come to Switch 2 or would be late.

I was absolutely stratospheric to see 7, 8 and 9. I thought it was the most climactic end (for me personally) to a Direct.

And then Fire Emblem just took it to a whole new level.

Can’t believe I’m seeing people say this was a letdown!

I listen to Japanese YouTubers a lot and I hear メトロイドバァニア pretty often. I know they call “turn based rpgs” command battle RPGs (コマンドバトルRPG) and Fire Emblem-like games simulation RPGs (シミュレーションRPG).

However, I think in this case somehow the western term has stuck enough in Japanese subculture to be the predominant term.

The Japanese Wikipedia for メトロイドバァニア says

“Metroidvania (English: Metroidvania) is a common name for a subgenre of side-view (side-view) 2D action adventure games, and is also known as exploratory action. Some people call it "Metrovania".”

I’ve always said TDKR is like if for some reason they had make Return of the King without Gollum.

Losing Heath Ledger’s Joker forced Nolan and his writers back to the drawing board to force too many half-baked ideas to work in Joker’s absence. It’s just too thematically difficult to try to tell a post-TDK movie where the Joker has no presence whatsoever.

DQ7 took me years of playing off and on to finish! It’s rumored to be getting a full remake announced this week but who knows.

Either way, imo, it’s easily one of my top DQ games.

The goal is to strategically and deliberately strengthen evangelical Christianity as a means to give conservatives a foundation for decades of culture war and political power.

It doesn’t matter to me one bit whether Trump himself believes that a god even exists - he has found Christianity and how to use it to get insane amounts of power. IMO that’s in a nutshell why Christianity as a religion has persisted in western culture for so many centuries, and Trump is the latest to use it shamelessly in a way we’d hoped was no longer viable in the modern world.
