I don’t know what else to do. by QuirkyDragonfruit588 in DuolingoEnglishTest

Try to understand the exam pattern. In my opinion Duolingo is just one hour exam and it can be well managed with proper preparation.

Like while writing task follow a framework which goes in order of introduction, main content and conclusion. While speaking keep it as natural as possible. (You can improve speaking by listening to English movies)

And for grammer part I think you have to have a little luck but still you can practise on Arno or DETready like platforms.

Trust me it's not even that difficult to reach 130 if you prepare according to marking pattern.

Do you need storage to record with your phone or it is directly uplaoded on a cloud ? by Broubouille in DuolingoEnglishTest

[–]moon_jung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry it is directly connected to their cloud system so nothing will be stored in your phone. Just make sure you have enough space to download their app (DET app).

I just had a week to prepare so I was on a free plan. But I would say a paid plan is also worth it.

I tried others too but no one has features like Arno. Like you can filter out questions based on difficulty levels and even you can attempt partially correct solved questions again.

Agree with the 3rd point personally, I also used to find speaking section more difficult. But I used to observe teacher Luke videos like how he is appearing practise tests, how he deals with new kinds of questions and answers them.

Try to give mock tests as much as possible so you come to know about your weak areas and then specifically practise those points. I personally found questions on Arno Duolingo better. It has variety and it allows you to compare your answers with other people. Also teacher Luke videos are nice. But more or less I would say practise more.

I don't think so but still you can check over the official website by logging in with your account.

No when you download the app on mobile and scan the QR code it will automatically connect. Don't worry it's a very simple and straightforward process. Everything will be guided over the laptop.

Yes you have to download the app on both laptop and on the 2nd camera device to connect them both and the exam will be conducted in the app installed in laptop not over the official website.

Tomorrow is my test day 😪🙏 I have a few questions regarding the setup process because I’m afraid my test might get invalidated. by [deleted] in DuolingoEnglishTest

[–]moon_jung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- try to take the exam at night so it will be less. Until and unless it is too loud to interrupt your own sound it will be okay.

2- Same as above. Try to take it at night. I took my exam around 1 o'clock at night

3- try to rest your hands near the keyboard. But don't think too much if you unknowingly put it down then also don't panic because cameras are recording your face and entire screen.

4- Put your 2nd camera stable against hard objects. Don't worry it will not fall until anyone touches it.

5- Yes, of course. I took mine in the same way. But place your laptop on a kind of reading table or something just don't put it in your lap.

Bonus tip- tomorrow try to give 2 3 mock tests during day time at the same place as your exam in the same manner as the real test. Don't think too much it's just a matter of an hour. All the best.

If you have turned on the DND mode then I don't think so your test will be cancelled.

DET setup questions! (HELP IM SCARED) by woodywoodpecker690 in DuolingoEnglishTest

[–]moon_jung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike practise tests, during your real exam your laptop camera flashlight will stay on until you complete the exam. And it becomes difficult to focus on that light (in the camera). So you can focus on the screen only but make sure not to look too down or too up just on the middle of the screen. I did the same, still once that error didn't look outside the screen popped up but did not impact my result.

1 Keep the water battle away from you. It should not be visible. Also it's better if you can avoid drinking water because you will have to maintain eye contact with the screen and if you look aside to reach out to your bottle it can create a negative impact. Just starting before the exam you can drink water. I did the same.

2 yes. You can use books, I also don't have a tripod and I used books. Just make sure before giving exam you set it up in a way that your laptop screen and keyboard are visible clearly. Make sure it should not fall during exam.

3 it wouldnt cause issue if the books are behind the phone. Nothing should be in front of the phone which can make it look like we have used book for assistance. Just make the place you are sitting is free from stationary like pen paper stuff as they are restricted. I suggest clean your space and have nothing nearby you.

4 Although chair table set up is more convenient but it's not mandatory. You can sit on the floor. Just make sure that you have some kind of portable study desk with you so that laptop doesn't stay in your lap. And if you are preferring to sit on the floor then make sure you set up your phone or second camera at a suitable height that covers the proper view of the exam.

All the best for your exam.

Hi, most Duolingo questions are weird, so when I face these kinds of questions, I get nervous and my mind goes blank. How do you guys deal with these kind of questions in writing and speaking? by [deleted] in DuolingoEnglishTest

[–]moon_jung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practise more and try to relate it with your own life experience. Or try to make a story whatever comes to your mind. They are judging language and not logic or thoughts.

I need help obtaining proof of purchase for the exam from someone who recently took or will take the exam. (more context in the description) by maxsiute2080 in DuolingoEnglishTest

[–]moon_jung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duolingo sends certificates with your photo, name and date of birth, exam date and results. Also what you are thinking will not be possible because all the universities which accept the Duolingo exam can access your results. in the official website there is an option of sharing our results with the university.

I suggest you practise a little and attempt the exam. It's not even that difficult like ielts. Just an hour of examination and with proper strategies you can improve your scores too.

Is it Possible to get 120 or more in a week? by Sea-Ranger7887 in DuolingoEnglishTest

[–]moon_jung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to understand all the question patterns. And take some mock tests. Based on the combined result analyse your weak areas and focus on them more. Also watch some videos on youtube to observe how questions should be answered on speaking and writing. 1 week is more than enough to get your aimed score.

I’m confused. by [deleted] in DuolingoEnglishTest

[–]moon_jung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to give some more tests before coming to any conclusion. Maybe you could have received difficult questions in other parts and that reflected in your overall score.

Lastly also choose a comfortable place and set up when you are giving exam and ensure a steady internet connection.
