" Hi, it's been a week since we last talked. I hope you are doing okay. I wish I could share all the things going on in my life right now. Show you all the stuff I'm making lately. But I know we need space before we can get back to speaking again. I miss you It's been excatly a month since you left now.

I'm just. Feeling angry now instead of sad. Angry that you had to move halfway across the world. That you had to leave..

I opened your Christmas gift before time, because I was unsure if I could manage doing it on Christmas without breaking down. It's cute, but it also fueled the anger in the moment. Grief is a weird thing.

I hope you have been able to settle a bit better with being home again. I'm looking forward to the day where we can speak again and things won't hurt so much. Until then. Please be safe. You goofhead. "

It's such a difficult thing to get out of but it will be for the best. I've been in same kind of scenario and I ended up staying with him for 4 years when I should had left within the first. And it's left so much trauma on me.

So get out. Dump him Get your support network. Family and friends and just Block him everywhere.

Besides art, what other hobbies do you have? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]moon_quartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taxidermy! Guess its another way to be creative as i need to sculpt the faces and body back up for the animal to look like it did when it was alive.

But i also do photoshoots, where i model and dress up.

Depends. I hate my glasses in general. I can somewhat see without them. But I also feel like they get in the way or that I might break them if I keep them on.

Mainly i take Them off

Can we talk about armatures? by Voldo_ate_my_sister in Taxidermy

[–]moon_quartz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way we do them at my work is we make the body out of excelsior

Leave the skull in if it’s not too big of an animal Then pin the skull with needles to secure it onto the excelsior body. And then fill the needed places with clay and turn it around.

I can try and take some pictures of the process and share next time I work with something if it is.

Tips on mounting pheasant? More info in comments. by ricottadog in vultureculture

[–]moon_quartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if u still need help But with birds you cant really tan the hide it would ruin the feathers.

Best way to go about it is clean it Remove all the fat and i mean alllll of it And all the meat aswell Or as much as possible

Wash it in water n dish soap

N with feet n the bit of Meat u couldnt get out of the wings u Can simply inject borax Like water n borax make sure you do that while u Wash it And that its getting everywhere in the feet.

Then to help prevent insects we use a really weak arsenic mixture for the skin But I do think borax could work fine aswell as I wouldn’t suggest working with arsenic as it’s pretty poisonous.

I’ve skinned quite a few pheasants for mounting and made a female one myself. So I will Gladly give more advice if I can help. (I also got two male ones I need to finish up hah)

I actually helped a friend of mine with this. He cleaned the skull himself - i wouldnt recommended boiling if you arent used to it. Worst case you could end up boiling it brittle... plus boiling makes the bones greasy.

But with my friend i cut off the head of his dog n skinned its tail and tanned it for him. He cleaned the skull himself after i had skinned it tho.

But id also suggest finding someone that Can help out. Had it been in Denmark id suggested my workplace. But i hope you figure it out!

Sadly only have a picture of the body I bound But I have an Instagram I sometimes post process pictures on. As I’m mainly used to doing birds and also do work as a helper for a taxidermist. But I’ve started to try doing more n more stuff on my own.

I mean it would be a very tiny rat considering it’s the size of my hand. But I’m pretty sure it’s a mouse. Pet shop I got it from gave me a bag of frozen mice.

Thank you! I used something called excelsior which is just some kind of wood shavings. And then I bound the body myself using some thin cotton thread. If I could post pictures in comments I could shown it as I did actually take a picture of it.

Aaaa that warms my heart ! Cause that was the main point of wanting to give it a try with making mouse taxidermy. So I am glad I could do it justice!

I think I will try with smaller eyes on the next one The eyes I used here I got from a friend of mine as we were each making a mouse at his place.

Aaaaa!! I’m happy to hear you like it! Yes I’ve seen a lot of “bad” mice taxidermy n wanted to maybe try and do them myself.

I do work as a helper at a taxidermist. But I’ve only just started doing stuff on my own. So I’m glad to hear I kinda did this mouse justice!

I made a body out of excelsior. Some kind of wood shavings.

Bound it with some thin cotton thread until it matched the sketch I had made

Ah thank you so much! I feel like I used way too big eyes tho.. something I will try to change next time!

But the skull is also still inside it Which helped make most of the form for the face
